WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Hamilton College's
Katie Allen '26 scored the tying goal midway through the third period and this NESCAC game between the Continentals and the Williams College Ephs ended in a 1-1 draw inside Williams' Lansing Chapman Rink on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 31.
Season Update
- Hamilton (9-6-4, 5-4-3 NESCAC), which is receiving votes in the USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll, went to overtime for the fifth time this season.
- Nationally ranked No. 8 Williams (13-1-4, 6-1-3 NESCAC) had won its previous three games, including 3-1 against the Continentals on Jan. 30.
How It Happened
- With the puck in Hamilton's defensive zone, Lydia Bullock '26 slid a pass to Allen, who took the puck down the ice. Allen's first attempt was blocked but she recovered, and on the second attempt she slotted in a goal for the Continentals with 8:49 left.
- Williams had the advantage in the five-minute, sudden-victory overtime period, outshooting Hamilton 8-2 with the teams skating 3-on-3. A giveaway by the Continentals with 2:56 left gave the Ephs a 2-on-1 opportunity, but Annie Gallagher's shot hit the post and the score remained tied.
- Neither team scored in overtime, so they went to a shootout. Savana Littlewood's goal for Williams proved decisive as Hamilton missed its three attempts. Shootout results are only used for tiebreaking procedures for NESCAC championship seeding.
- In the first period, Williams outshot Hamilton 18-13 and had a power-play opportunity, but 11 saves by Continentals goaltender Evie Sheridan '26 helped keep the game scoreless.
- Williams opened the scoring 10:47 into the second period on the power play. Leah Rubinshteyn slid the puck back to Claire Murphy, who fired a long-range shot that made its way through the defense and into the back of the net.
Notes
- Allen scored her second goal of the season.
- Sheridan made a season-high 34 saves including four in overtime. She's fifth in the conference with a .938 save percentage and eighth with a 1.55 goals against average.
- Bullock picked up her fifth assist and is third on the team with 10 points.
- Grace Crowley '26, who added a helper, leads the team with nine assists and 13 points.
- Sophia Testa '26 had four of Hamilton's 12 blocked shots.
- Hamilton was 0-for-2 on the power play while Williams went 1-for-4.
- Hamilton held a slight edge in both shots (61-57) and shots on goal (36-35).
Next Game
The Continentals return home to play Bowdoin College (9-8-0, 3-7) on Friday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.
