CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Luke Tchor '27 scored the game-winning goal 59 seconds into sudden-victory overtime and lifted the Continentals to a 3-2 NESCAC win against the Trinity College Bantams inside Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 31.
Season Update
- The third-ranked Continentals (15-1-2, 11-0-1 NESCAC) won their seventh straight game.
- Trinity (9-9-0, 3-9) dropped its fourth consecutive contest.
How It Happened
- The Bantams won the faceoff at the start of the 3-on-3, five-minute overtime and kept possession of the puck for the first 50 seconds.
- Jackson Krock '26 forced a turnover when he checked a Trinity player against the boards below the goal line, and Tchor picked up the puck behind the Hamilton net. Tchor outraced a defender up the ice and carried the puck into his offensive zone. He skated into the left circle and released a wrist shot from the faceoff dot that got through goaltender Jack Fialkoff and sailed just inside the far post.
- Tchor's goal in the extra period completed an impressive rally by the Continentals from two goals down midway through the third period.
- Noah Leibl '27 started the comeback 9:47 into the third. Ryan Sordillo '27 won an offensive zone faceoff back to Lucas Constantine '27 above the left circle. Constantine passed to John Wojciechowski '28 and his one-timer from the point sailed over the crossbar. The puck caromed off the glass back out near the right post where Leibl knocked it into the back of the net.
- Tchor tied the score with 8:55 left. Krock passed the puck from the left corner along the boards in Hamilton's attacking zone to Tchor in the left circle near the slot. He trapped the puck with his skate, put it on his stick and snapped a wrist shot that beat Fialkoff inside the left post.
- Neither team scored until there was 3:34 remaining in the second period when James Barbour put the Bantams on the board. Jakob Karpa made it what looked to be a commanding two-goal advantage at the time with his goal 2:16 into the third period.
