Miller '28 lifts men's soccer to first NESCAC win of 2026

Montesano Scheibe '27 made three saves and posted the shutout against Wesleyan

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Troy Miller '28 scored in the 42nd minute and the Continentals posted a 1-0 NESCAC win against the Wesleyan University Cardinals at Hamilton's Love Field on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 3.

Season Update

  • The Continentals (3-3-3, 1-3-2 NESCAC) have shut out three of their last four opponents.
  • Wesleyan (5-3-1, 1-3-0) has lost each of its last three conference matches by 1-0 decisions.

How It Happened

  • Miller received a pass from William Fauth '29 between the midfield line and the 18-yard box. He dribbled into the right side of the box, made a great move to keep defenders off him and hammered a low, right-footed shot. The goalkeeper dove and deflected the ball off the inside of the left post and into the net.
  • Hamilton's Peter Montesano Scheibe '27 made saves in the 66th, 68th and 82nd minutes.

Notes

  • Miller is tied for fifth in the NESCAC with four goals.
  • Montesano Scheibe recorded his second straight clean sheet and the sixth of his career with the Continentals.
  • Hamilton held a 9-5 shot advantage in the first half before the Cardinals flipped the script in the second half and took 11 shots to the Continentals' four.
  • Simon Rebstock stopped four shots for Wesleyan.
  • The Cardinals came up with a team save about a minute before Miller's goal.
  • Hamilton defeated Wesleyan at home for the first time since 2019.

Next Match

The Continentals host No. 18 Tufts University (5-1-3, 2-1-2) for another conference contest on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m.
