No. 3 men's hockey moves win streak to six games after blanking Wesleyan

Third consecutive shutout for Reid '27 and two goals by Wojciechowski '28

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's John Wojciechowski '28 scored two goals and Aksel Reid '27 made 16 saves in the Continentals' 4-0 NESCAC win against the Wesleyan University Cardinals inside Hamilton's jam-packed Russell Sage Rink on Friday night, Jan. 30.

Season Update

  • The third-ranked Continentals (14-1-2, 10-0-1 NESCAC) extended their win streak to six games.
  • Wesleyan (6-11-0, 5-6) lost for the fourth time in its last five games.

How It Happened

  • Wojciechowski scored Hamilton's first goal 4:11 into the first period on a shot from the point after Max Bulawka '26 won a faceoff in the Continentals' offensive zone.
  • Bulawka made it 2-0 at 7:35 of the second period. Michael Gallary '28 took a wrist shot from above the right faceoff circle and it ricocheted off a teammate in the low slot. Alex Danis '26 controlled the loose puck with his back to the goal, spun around and put a shot on goal that was stopped by goaltender Patrick McDevitt. The puck popped up into the air and landed at the top of the crease where Bulawka knocked it into the open net.
  • The Continentals held onto their two-goal advantage until there was 5:53 left in the third period. The Cardinals turned the puck over behind their own goal and Devon de Vries '27 ended up with it. He immediately threw the puck in front and Luke Tchor '27 scored from the low slot.
  • Hamilton completed the scoring on a power-play goal after a Wesleyan player was sent to the penalty box for cross-checking with 4:39 remaining. Wojciechowski took a pass from Jackson Krock '26 at the blue line above the left faceoff circle. Wojciechowski skated towards the point and sent a wrist shot towards the goal. The puck deflected off one of the Cardinals in front and past McDevitt for the fourth goal with 3:53 to go.

Notes

  • Wojciechowski posted the first multi-goal game in the defenseman's career with the Continentals.
  • Reid made half of his saves in the third period and recorded his third straight shutout. He leads the NESCAC with a 1.40 goals against average and .938 save percentage.
  • Bulawka registered a multi-point game for the second time in the last three contests.
  • Tchor is second in the conference with 13 goals and leads the NESCAC with 26 points.
  • Devon de Vries finished with two assists and has picked up at least one helper in each of the last three games. He leads the conference with 17 assists and is tied for second with 22 points.
  • Krock, who had an assist, collected at least one point for the fourth straight game.
  • Hamilton enjoyed a 45-16 shot advantage.
  • The Continentals killed both Wesleyan power-play chances. Hamilton has allowed just two power-play goals in 45 opportunities for its opponents this season.
  • The Continentals have won the last seven meetings with the Cardinals, including a 6-1 victory at Wesleyan on Nov. 21.
