CLINTON, N.Y. – Bowdoin College went on an 8-0 run in the final 31 seconds and the Polar Bears claimed a 69-68 NESCAC win over the Hamilton College Continentals on Hamilton's Coach Tom Murphy Court inside Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Friday evening, Jan. 30.
Season Update
- Hamilton (5-14, 1-4 NESCAC) began a four-game homestand following four consecutive games on the road.
- Bowdoin (13-6, 3-2) won its third in a row and improved to 6-2 on the road.
How It Happened
- Hamilton took its largest lead of seven points at 68-61 following a 3-pointer by Garret Keyhani '26 with 1:32 remaining in the second half.
- Bowdoin's Kevin Reeves converted a putback dunk following a missed 3-point attempt with 31 seconds remaining. Bowdoin forced a turnover on the inbounds pass, and Ray Cuevas sank a corner 3-pointer with 23 seconds left that trimmed the Polar Bears' deficit to 68-66.
- Bowdoin forced another Hamilton turnover and Cuevas was fouled while attempting a 3-pointer with 15.4 seconds to go. Cuevas, who finished with a game-high 29 points, sank all three free throw attempts and put the Polar Bears in front, 69-68. Hamilton missed a 3-point attempt just before the final buzzer.
- Cuevas scored 11 straight points, including three made triples, between the 15:25 and 13:29 marks in the first half and gave the Polar Bears their largest lead of 11 at 15-4. Rob Cain '28 ended the run with a putback layup for the Continentals with 12:10 left.
- Keyhani went on a personal 10-0 run with the help of two made 3-pointers and tied the score at 17-17 with 8:45 remaining.
- Jalen Reese '27 knocked down a corner 3-pointer with 6:40 left, and Jack Stowell '27 sank a pullup jumper with just over five minutes remaining for a 24-19 Continentals lead.
- Bowdoin scored the next eight points with the help of back-to-back baskets by Reeves and the Polar Bears regained the lead at 27-24 with 2:17 left.
- Reese drove to the rim and threw down a one-handed slam with 36 seconds left that tied the score at 28-28.
- Bowdoin's Mason Dawkins sank a free throw with four seconds remaining and the Polar Bears held a 29-28 lead at halftime.
- Bowdoin held its largest second-half lead of five points on three occasions. A 3-pointer by Alex Halpern extended Bowdoin's lead to 45-40 with 12:40 left.
- Evan O'Reilly '29 caught fire for the Continentals near the midway point in the second half and scored 11 straight points. He drove to the paint and drilled a fadeaway jumper with 13:30 left, sank a pullup jumper at the 13:02 mark, then cashed a stepback from the left side less than one minute later. He drained a corner 3 following a steal by Alister Walsh '29 with 11:35 left and tied the score at 45-45. O'Reilly tied the score once again at 47-47 with a fast-break layup at the 10:53 mark.
- David Melson '29 converted consecutive jumpers and gave the Continentals a 61-55 lead with 4:22 left. Hamilton held a six-point advantage once again with 3:02 to go following a layup by Nate Raub '27. A layup by Dawkins with 2:40 remaining trimmed the Continentals' lead to 65-61.

- Keyhani scored a season-high 21 points with a season-high nine made field goals, including three 3-pointers.
- Reese provided 13 points, a team-high seven rebounds and two blocks.
- O'Reilly scored in double figures for the second time this season with 11 points.
- Walsh totaled a season-high four assists and a season-high three steals.
- The Continentals committed just eight turnovers, their second-fewest total in a game this season, and tied their season high with 13 steals.
- Bowdoin shot 20-for-33 from the line, marking the most free throw attempts that Hamilton has allowed this season.
- Cuevas leads the NESCAC in scoring with 23.2 points per game. He went 7-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range, and 11-for-15 at the line.
- Reeves finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. Dawkins added 13 points and three steals.
