Myziuk '28 scores tying goal in 2-2 non-conference deadlock at Elmira

Sophomore leads the Continentals with six goals and 12 points

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Sarah Myziuk '28 posted a goal and an assist and the Continentals played the Elmira College Soaring Eagles to a 2-2 tie in non-conference action inside Elmira's Murray Athletic Center Ice Arena on Tuesday evening, Jan. 20.

Season Update

  • Hamilton (7-5-3 overall) recorded its second straight tie and went to overtime for the third game in a row.
  • The Soaring Eagles (9-3-2), who are 3-0-1 in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference, are receiving votes in the USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll.

How It Happened

  • All four goals were scored in the third period. The closest either team came to scoring during the first two periods was about six minutes into the second when a shot by the Continentals' Cuora Sullivan '26 banged off the frame.
  • Lilly Truchon '26 gave Hamilton a 1-0 lead exactly three minutes into the third. Myziuk took a shot from the bottom of the right faceoff circle that was stopped by goaltender Olivia Last. The rebound popped out to the top of the crease and Truchon was there to knock it past Last.
  • Elmira took the lead midway through the period. Anna Lugge tied the score 7:38 into the third and Abby Eselunas made it 2-1 just 59 seconds later.
  • Myziuk drew the Continentals even with 7:58 left. Sophia Rodham '27 flipped the puck towards the goal from near the blue line and one of the Soaring Eagles knocked it down. Myziuk controlled the puck in the low slot, turned and flipped it into the back of the net.
  • Both teams received late power-play opportunities. A Hamilton player was sent to the penalty box for holding with 53.2 seconds remaining and Elmira put four shots on goal until one of its players was sent off for tripping 59 seconds into the five-minute overtime period.
  • The Continentals finished overtime with a total of four shots, including three on goal. The Soaring Eagles took seven shots but just three were on goal, and all three came in the opening minute.
