MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Hamilton College's
Teagan Brown '27 made 34 saves and the Continentals and Wesleyan University Cardinals played to a 0-0 NESCAC tie inside Wesleyan's Spurrier-Snyder Rink on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 17.
Season Update
- Hamilton (7-5-2, 3-3-2 NESCAC) defeated the Cardinals 5-4 in another overtime game on Jan. 16.
- Wesleyan (2-11-2, 0-7-1) is winless in its last five contests.
How It Happened
- The Continentals received a golden opportunity with 1:27 left in the third period when one of the Cardinals was sent to the penalty box for tripping. Wesleyan goaltender Jenna Guglielmi made a stop just before the horn sounded at the end of the period and added eight more during the five-minute overtime period as the teams skated 3-on-3.
- Brown was challenged only twice during overtime as Hamilton dominated the action. The Continentals put 17 shots on goal during a busy second period.
Notes
- The Cardinals' Amelia Molin recorded the only successful attempt in the fourth round of the shootout following overtime. The shootout result is used only in tiebreaking procedures for determining seeding for the NESCAC championship. Hamilton is 1-1 in shootouts this season.
- Brown posted her second straight shutout and the 10th of her career with the Continentals. She is third in the conference with a .948 save percentage and seventh with a 1.48 goals against average in eight starts.
- Grace Puskar '27 won 9-of-13 faceoffs and leads Hamilton with a faceoff winning percentage of 54.4 percent.
- The Continentals registered a 47-34 shot advantage as Guglielmi turned away all 47.
- Hamilton had two power-play chances and Wesleyan ended up with three, including two in the third period.
- The Continentals are 3-0-1 with three shutouts in their last four meetings with the Cardinals.
