No. 4 men's hockey breezes past Conn. College for fourth straight victory

Continentals scored three goals in the first period and added three more in the third

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Ben Zimmerman '26 posted two goals and an assist and Aksel Reid '27 made 24 saves in the Continentals' 6-0 NESCAC win against the Connecticut College Camels inside Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 17.

Season Update

  • The fourth-ranked Continentals (12-1-2, 8-0-1 NESCAC) extended their win streak to four games. They outscored those four opponents 16-4.
  • Conn. College (6-7-1, 2-5-1) dropped its third straight.

How It Happened

  • Hamilton got on the scoreboard 2:28 into the first period. Michael Gallary '28 slapped a one-timer from the blue line near the right-side boards that was stopped by goaltender Will McEvoy. Clarence Beltz '29 backhanded the rebound past McEvoy as Beltz was leveled at the top of the crease.
  • The Continentals' special teams were responsible for four goals, including their second of the day at 10:01 of the first. Devon de Vries '27 saucered a pass from above the left faceoff circle to Luke Tchor '27, who sent a touch pass from the right faceoff circle back across the slot to Zimmerman for a one-timer from near the left post for a power-play goal.
  • Hamilton added a short-handed goal for the second game in a row before the period ended. Zimmerman forced a turnover near his own blue line and started a two-on-one break with Carson Hall '26. Zimmerman flicked a backhand pass to Hall on his right as they entered the zone. Hall settled the puck on the fly in the slot and scored on a shot inside the left post with 3:30 left.
  • After a scoreless second period, Zimmerman made it 4-0 with a power-play goal just 33 seconds into the third. Jackson Krock '26 sent a pass from below the goal line to Max Bulawka '26 in the right faceoff circle. Bulawka quickly passed to Zimmerman, who was all alone at the bottom of the left faceoff circle, and he fired a one-timer into the wide-open net.
  • The Continentals took a five-goal advantage nearly three minutes later. Beltz, skating from left to right, took the puck behind the net and sent a backhand pass to Vincent Gould '27 cutting through the low slot. Gould swiftly tapped the puck past McEvoy at 3:29.
  • Tchor completed the scoring with one more power-play tally at 9:28 of the third. A pass from Bulawka evaded Tchor but he recovered the puck after it bounced off the boards. He held onto the puck for a couple seconds before flipping a wrist shot that found the back of the net from above the right faceoff circle.
