GENEVA, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Grace Crowley '26 notched a hat trick and won 13-of-20 faceoffs in the Continentals' 6-0 non-conference win against the William Smith College Herons inside William Smith's The Cooler on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 13.
Season Update
- Hamilton (6-5-1 overall) has shut out its last two non-conference opponents. The Continentals picked up their first win away from home.
- The Herons (7-6-0), who are 3-1 in the SUNYAC, dropped their third straight game and are winless in January.
How It Happened
- Hamilton scored two goals in each period. Bri Rockwood '28 got things started for the Continentals 5:12 into the first. Cuora Sullivan '26 passed the puck from the right faceoff circle to Rockwood for a one-timer from the slot.
- Crowley made it 2-0 with 7:40 left in the period. Sophia Testa '26 put a wrist shot from above the right faceoff circle on net and Crowley knocked in the rebound from the top of the crease.
- Hamilton blitzed William Smith off the jump as the Continentals held a 17-4 shots on goal advantage in the opening period.
- Jamie Porter '28 gave Hamilton a three-goal advantage 5:49 into the second period. Herons goaltender Mia Iwicki made a tremendous blocker save on Sophie Berghammer '26, but Iwicki immediately fell to the ice outside the crease. The loose puck sat in the blue paint and Porter dove and poked it into the open net.
- Crowley increased the Continentals' cushion to four goals with 8:01 remaining in the second. A William Smith clear attempt bounced off Sarah Wagner '28 and was picked up by Lilly Truchon '26 at the blue line. Truchon dumped the puck deep into the attacking zone and Lydia Bullock '26 picked it up behind the goal. Bullock sent a backhand centering pass to Crowley in the slot for a wrist shot that snuck inside the right post.
- Crowley completed her hat trick and made it a five-goal game 9:02 into the third period. Wagner's shot from above the right faceoff circle near the blue line hit some players in the slot. Crowley corralled the loose puck in the right faceoff circle and scored on a wrister from the low slot.
- Gabby Martiniello '28 rounded out the scoring with 2:58 to go. Hamilton dominated the final 20 minutes as it enjoyed a 14-3 advantage in shots on goal.
