GENEVA, N.Y. -- Hamilton College's
Ayzlinn Trefren '28 smashed a career-high 14 kills and helped lead the Continentals to a four-set win (25-19, 25-13, 24-26, 25-18) against the Alfred University Saxons in the 2025 William Smith College Tournament inside Bristol Gym on Friday afternoon, Sept. 5.
Season Update
- Hamilton was playing its 2025 season opener.
- Alfred, which is a member of the Empire 8 Athletic Conference, won its first set this season but dropped to 0-5 overall.

How It Happened
- In the first set, the Continentals gave up the first two points but scored the next five and led the rest of the way. Elodie McGeiver '27 ended the set with a kill.
- Hamilton jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the second set and cruised after that. Zua Vang '29 closed out the set with an ace.
- The Saxons rallied to win the third set after scoring the last three points. Jade Wolfer served two straight aces for the clinching points.
- Neither team led by more than three points in the fourth set until the Continentals broke away from an 18-18 tie with seven in a row. Amelia Hahn '29 smacked an ace on match point.

Notes
- Caitlin Allen '27 registered a career-best 11 kills and led the defense with three blocks.
- Hahn finished with 10 kills and no errors in 17 attempts for a .588 hitting percentage. She also tied a match high with five aces.
- Grace Jansen '29 passed out 36 assists and came up with a team-best 12 digs in her first collegiate match.
- Vang tied Hahn with five aces as Hamilton ended up with 18.
