Griffin Weidner '26 scored in the 71
st minute and the Continentals edged the Bowdoin College Polar Bears 1-0 in a heated NESCAC defensive battle at Hamilton's Love Field on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 27.
Season Update
- Hamilton (4-2-2, 1-2-2 NESCAC) won its third straight match at Love Field.
- Bowdoin (4-2-1, 1-2-1) was shut out for the second time this season.
How it Happened
- Right off the bat in the fourth minute for the Continentals, Zach Tracy '28 took a free kick that was deflected in the box and hit the post.
- In the 34th minute, the Polar Bears' Max Cook had a great chance but Peter Montesano Scheibe '27 denied his effort with an excellent point-blank save.
- With about 20 minutes left in the second half, Oliver Mylon '29 crossed the ball off a short corner and Weidner emphatically headed the ball into the net.
- Bowdoin had a great chance to equalize in the 82nd minute, but Donovan Sinicropi sent the ball over the net from just a few yards away. The Polar Bears earned two corner kicks but no shots in the final three minutes.
Notes
- The Continentals have won three of their last four matches.
- Weidner's goal was his second of the season, and he's second on the team with five points.
- Mylon picked up his second assist.
- Hamilton has kept a clean sheet in half of its matches.
- Montesano Scheibe needed to make just the one save for his second career shutout. He has a 0.68 goals against average and .826 save percentage in six starts this season.
- The Continentals have one loss in the last eight meetings with Bowdoin.
