CLINTON, N.Y. – Amherst College's Allie McLaughlin posted 13 kills, 11 digs and three aces in the Mammoths' three-set NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals inside Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Friday evening, Sept. 26.
Season Update
- The Continentals (3-6, 0-3 NESCAC) dropped their third straight match – all at home against conference opponents.
- Amherst (5-2, 2-1) was playing its first match away from home this season.
How It Happened
- In the first set there were seven lead changes and neither team led by more than four. A kill by the Mammoths' Ellie Myers put Amherst in front for good at 18-17 and started a three-point run. A McLaughlin kill ended the set.
- The score was tied at 7-7 in the second set when the Mammoths recorded five of the next six points and led the rest of the way. Hamilton pulled within a point four times after that including at 22-21, but Amherst used a service error by the Continentals, block assists by Sofia Camilo and Brielle Renwick, and a Renwick kill to close out the set.
- The third and final set was tight again with seven lead changes and no lead larger than three points until the end. Hamilton was up 20-18 before the Mammoths responded with a 7-1 spurt. Back-to-back attack errors by the Continentals put Amherst ahead for good at 22-20, and a kill by Charlotte Rasmussen clinched the set and the match.

- Hamilton's Elodie McGeiver '27 tied a season high with 12 kills.
- Kathryn Fox '27 chipped in a career-best 11 kills and tied a season high with four blocks.
- Grace Jansen '29 handed out 21 assists and Zua Vang '29 served three aces.
- Caitlin Allen '27 registered four blocks and is second in the NESCAC with 1.23 per set.
- Ayzlinn Trefren '28 led the defense with 11 digs and Mia Jessen '28 tied a season best with 10.
- The Mammoths boasted a .500 hitting percentage in the first set and .300 for the match.

The Continentals travel to Colby College (11-1, 1-1) for another conference contest on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
