Baffor '29 posts goal and assist in women's soccer 3-1 win at Oswego

Continentals pulled away with two goals in less than 30 seconds late in the second half

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Diana Baffor '29 scored a goal and assisted on another in the Continentals' 3-1 non-conference victory over the Oswego State Lakers at Oswego's Laker Turf Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 9. 
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (1-2-0 overall) was playing its first road match this season, following two NESCAC home matches last week. 
  • The Continentals handed the Lakers (3-1-1) their first loss of 2025. 
 

How It Happened

  • Hamilton had 10 shots in the first half, including attempts on goal by Abby Douglass '27 and Lila Sullivan '29.  
  • In the 31st minute Sullivan drew a foul in the 18-yard box, and Maddie Ledbury '26 converted from the spot and put the Continentals up 1-0. 
  • Nieve Tonna '26 preserved Hamilton's lead through the end of the half with saves in the 33rd, 38th and 41st minutes. 
  • Oswego's Luz De Luna Catano-Matip scored an equalizer in the 63rd minute.
  • Baffor answered by burying a shot in the top-left corner in the 80th minute. 
  • Less than 30 seconds later, Baffor threaded a through ball to Isabel Harvey '28, who found the back of the net and secured the victory. 
 

Notes

  • Baffor's three points were the first of her collegiate career.
  • Ledbury scored her 18th career goal and registered her 40th point.
  • Harvey notched her ninth career tally in 19 matches.
  • Tonna finished with the three stops for the Continentals.
  • Hamilton recorded 13 shots in the second half while the Lakers managed just one. 
  • The Continentals have won all 23 matches against Oswego under Head Coach Colette Gilligan
 

Next Match

Hamilton heads to Middletown, Conn., to face No. 12 Wesleyan University (2-0-0) for a NESCAC contest at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13.
