CLINTON, N.Y. – Williams College rallied late in both NESCAC West Division games and the Ephs completed the three-game series sweep of the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's Loop Road Athletic Complex on Sunday, April 6.
Season Update
- Hamilton (9-11, 1-5 NESCAC West) is still in search of its first home win.
- Williams (10-6, 3-0) extended its win streak to five with 9-1 and 6-4 victories.
Game 1
How It Happened
- Williams scored a run in the top of the first inning and led for the entirety of the seven-inning contest.
- Chester Boynton '27 and Greg Kopp '25 started the bottom of the inning with back-to-back singles on the first five pitches. The Ephs escaped the threat as the Continentals left the bases loaded.
- The Ephs extended their lead to 3-0 with two more runs in the fourth.
- Lucas Herman '26 led off the bottom of the fifth with a 10-pitch walk, marking the first time the Continentals had a runner since the first inning. Boynton drew another walk with two outs, but Williams worked out of the inning without any damage.
- The Continentals broke their scoreless streak in the sixth. Henry Boehm '25 hit an infield single and was replaced by pinch-runner Jeremy Diaz '27, who quickly advanced to second on a passed ball. Ethan Righter '27 reached on another infield single and Diaz crossed the plate on a throwing error. Hamilton eventually put two more runners in scoring position, but the Ephs' Owen McHugh ended the threat with a strikeout.
- Williams put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh with six runs on three hits and four walks.
Notes
- Boynton went 2-for-3 with a walk.
- Righter recorded his 16th hit of the season and stole his fourth base.
- Marcus Burrell II led Williams with three RBI and had three singles.
- Luca Lopetrone also notched three hits including a double
- James O'Connor batted in two runs while Ben Swank and Henry Juan chipped in two hits apiece.
- McHugh (2-0) surrendered one unearned run on four hits, issued four walks, and set a career-high with 12 strikeouts.
Game 2
How It Happened
- After the first two innings ended with a double play for the Continentals, they struck for two runs in the bottom of the third. Alfonso Rada '27 led off with a single followed by a single to right field by Diaz. Boynton loaded the bases with a bunt single to the pitcher and Kopp drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly to left-center. Boehm brought in Diaz with a single through the right side on a full count.
- Hamilton extended its lead to 3-0 with a run in the fifth inning. Rada led off with a hard-hit double down the left-field line and advanced to third on an infield single by Boynton. Kopp drove in Rada with a single through the left side.
- After coming up with just three hits through the first seven innings, the Ephs scored four runs in the eighth and took a 4-3 lead.
- Hamilton tied the score in the bottom of the inning. Quinn Perkins '25 was hit by a pitch, promptly stole second and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Gianni DiCerbo '27. Perkins scored on an RBI single by Michael Tallarida '26.
- Williams regained the lead with two runs in the ninth and sealed the series sweep by retiring Hamilton in order in the bottom half.
Notes
- Kopp went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs. The three hits were a season high.
- Boynton had two singles and notched his eighth multi-hit game of the season.
- Rada contributed two hits, including his fifth double of the season.
- DiCerbo was 2-for-3 for his fifth multi-hit contest of 2025.
- Herman belted his third double of the season.
- Boehm is on a four-game hit streak.
- Four of the Ehps' seven hits were for extra bases.
- Dave Mosrie led the team with two triples.
- Juan and Sasha Palma hit doubles for the Ephs.
- Three Williams relievers allowed one run on one hit over the last three innings.
