MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Middlebury College took the lead for good by scoring the last three goals of the second quarter and the first two goals of the third quarter, and the Panthers went on to a 14-8 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Middlebury's Youngman Field on Wednesday, April 2.
Season Update
- Hamilton (3-6, 1-5 NESCAC) was playing its third straight game away from home in the last nine days.
- The 14th-ranked Panthers (6-4, 4-2) won their fourth straight contest.
How It Happened
- Middlebury scored twice in the first four minutes and never trailed.
- The Continentals tied the score on goals by Frank Coyle '26 with 3:43 left in the first quarter and by Carson Kraus '28 with 17 seconds remaining.
- The Panthers went back in front on a goal by Drew Dummer with 9:51 to go in the second quarter.
- Coyle drew Hamilton even again at 3-3 with 7:09 left when he scored on a feed from PJ Flood '27.
- Middlebury scored three times in the last six minutes of the first half and went into the break with a 6-3 advantage.
- Patrick Jamin found the back of the net for the Panthers with 8:52 remaining in the third quarter and Logan White followed suit with 5:59 to go for a five-goal cushion.
- The Continentals didn't get closer than three goals the rest of the way. Ryan Olivo '28 pulled Hamilton within 9-6 with 1:27 left in the third, but Middlebury rattled off the first three goals of the fourth quarter.
Notes
- Coyle finished with five points on three goals and two assists. He leads the Continentals with 11 assists and 26 points. Coyle has 15 goals and has scored in all but one game this season.
- Olivo scored his first two collegiate goals.
- Thomas Healy '26 chipped in a goal and an assist. Healy tops Hamilton with 17 goals.
- Kraus tallied his fifth goal.
- Will Heher '25 recorded his 10th goal this season and the 50th of his career with the Continentals.
- Flood and defenseman Riley Chai-Onn '27 (assist) registered their first career points at Hamilton.
- Jack Fried '25 made six of his 15 saves in the first quarter for the Continentals.
- Billy Curtis led the Panthers' offense with five points on two goals and three assists. Jamin and White scored three goals apiece and Finn McCarthy dished out three assists.
- William Munroe won 18-of-22 faceoffs and scooped up 13 ground balls. Hayden Kern stopped nine shots.
- Middlebury held advantages in shots (45-27), ground balls (39-16) and faceoff wins (21-5).
