Men's lacrosse defeats Ithaca 10-7, hands Bombers first home loss

Healy '25 registered four points and Fried '25 made 10 saves for the Continentals

ITHACA, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Thomas Healy '26 posted four points and Jack Fried '25 made 10 saves in the Continentals' 10-7 non-conference win against the Ithaca College Bombers at Ithaca's Higgins Stadium on Tuesday night, March 25.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (3-4 overall) has allowed 12 goals in winning its last two games.
  • The Bombers (7-3), who are 1-0 in the Liberty League, came into the night with a five-game win streak. Ithaca had won its first six home games this season.
 

How It Happened

  • The Continentals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening four minutes and never trailed. Wyatt Estepp '27 scored the first goal and Milo Trabulsy '25 added a man-up tally with 11:30 left.
  • The Bombers notched the next two goals and tied the score with 8:01 remaining in the first.
  • Carson Kraus '28 put Hamilton in the lead for good with 7:08 to go in the quarter. Justin Pearl '25 and Will Heher '25 found the back of the net early in the second quarter for a 5-2 advantage.
  • Ithaca's Graham Brady made it 5-3 with 4:45 left in the second, and the Continentals took that two-goal edge into the break.
  • Healy scored three of Hamilton's next four goals. A goal by long-stick midfielder Jayme Wilde '25 gave the Continentals their largest lead of five goals at 8-3 with 2:00 remaining in the third quarter.
  • After the Bombers scored with 1:11 to go in the third, Healy restored the five-goal cushion 93 seconds into the fourth quarter.
  • Ithaca frantically tried to get back into it as the Bombers ran off the next three goals, but by the time they made it 9-7, there was just 1:04 left.
  • Hamilton won the ensuing faceoff on a violation and Evan deBerjeois '27 scored into an empty net with 31 seconds remaining as Ithaca tried to pressure the Continentals into committing a turnover.
 

Notes

  • Healy finished with three goals and his first assist this season. He leads the team with 14 goals.
  • Reece Hickey '26 won 8-of-10 faceoffs and scooped up four ground balls. Hickey is second on the team with 22 ground balls.
  • Seven other Hamilton players scored a goal.
  • Trabulsy scored his second goal this season.
  • Estepp and deBerjeois posted their first goals.
  • Heher and Pearl recorded goals for the sixth straight game.
  • Kraus collected his fourth goal.
  • Wilde registered his third goal this season.
  • The Continentals defeated the Bombers for the first time in more than 50 years. The teams last played in 2007.
