Taft '27 fourth in men's 200 free at NCAA swimming and diving champs

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Hamilton College's Nathaniel Taft '27 finished in fourth place in the championship final of the men's 200-yard freestyle in the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at Greenboro Aquatic Center on Thursday evening, March 20.
 
Taft posted a time of 1:36.95. He was second after 100 yards in 46.67 seconds and slipped to third after 150 yards with a time of 1:11.66. U.S. Coast Guard Academy's Colin Twiss was the race winner in 1:35.68.
 
Taft registered the second-fastest performance in the morning's preliminary heats with a time of 1:36.60. He was the top seed in the 200 coming into the national championships with a team-record time of 1:35.72, and he was runner-up in the event at the 2024 championships.
 
Taft took seventh place in the 50 free on the first day of the championships on March 19. He has accounted for 27 team points, which puts Hamilton in 21st place out of 43 teams that have scored at least one point.
 
Taft will be back in the pool on Saturday, March 22 for the 100 free. The event is the first race scheduled in the preliminary heats on Saturday morning.
