WATERVILLE, Maine – Hamilton College athletes broke three team records and made NCAA championships 'B' cuts in two events on the fourth and final day of the 2026 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Swimming & Diving Championships inside the Colby College Aquatics Center on Sunday, Feb. 22.
The Continentals finished in sixth place in the final team standings with 800.5 points. It was the best performance by the Hamilton men since they placed fifth at the 2010 championships.
The 400-yard freestyle relay of
Nathaniel Taft '27, Alex Vasquez '27, Loui Chambon '28 and
Steven Roche '27 set a record and made an NCAA 'B' cut with a time of 3:00.18. That same lineup posted the old record of 3:00.66 at last year's NESCAC meet.
Calvin Meeker '29 set the team record in the 200 backstroke and finished fourth with a time of 1:48.94. Chambon, who finished fifth in the event, was the previous record holder with a time of 1:50.41 at the 2025 conference championships.
Matthew Chang '28, who broke three team records on Feb. 21, bettered his own mark by 23 one-hundredths of a second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:50.74. Chang set his previous record at last year's meet.
Taft made an NCAA 'B' cut in the 100 free with a time of 43.86 seconds in the preliminary heats. He went on to finish second in the championship final in 44.02 seconds.
The Continentals find out on March 2 if any of their swimmers are selected for the NCAA championships.
