CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Julia Lee '27 tied a career high with five goals and established a career best with six points in the Continentals' 14-3 non-conference win against the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles at warm and breezy Steuben Field on Wednesday afternoon, March 19.
Season Update
- Hamilton (2-3 overall) outscored its two non-conference opponents, 28-11.
- Brockport (0-6), which is a member of the Empire 8 Athletic Conference, tied a season low with the three goals.
How It Happened
- The Continentals scored the first goal with 10:24 left in the first quarter, led 3-0 with 6:55 remaining and 4-1 after the opening 15 minutes. Lee notched three goals in the quarter.
- Hamilton led 7-2 after it beat the halftime horn on its seventh goal. Lee forced a turnover, scooped up the ground ball and passed ahead to Sophia Wright '28. Wright sprinted towards the goal and her shot from long-distance hit the back of the net just as the clock hit zeroes.
- The Continentals, who held a 9-2 advantage after three quarters, scored the first six goals of the second half.
- Maddigan Leifer '26 scored while Hamilton was down a player with 8:53 to go in the fourth quarter. Leifer's goal made it 12-2 and started the running clock, which remained in effect for the rest of the game.
Notes
- Lee added three ground balls and a team-high three draw controls. She leads the team with 11 goals and 14 points.
- Aine Cleary '25 chipped in three goals and an assist.
- Leifer finished with two tallies for her third straight multi-goal game.
- Sarah Creamer '26 registered a goal and a helper for the second time this season.
- Wright and Caroline Schillaci '28 scored their first collegiate goals.
- Alex Orlando '25 extended her goal-scoring streak to four games with her fifth this season.
- Sarah Stonestreet '25 picked up her team-high seventh assist.
- Lily Goldsmith '28 recorded her first assist for the Continentals.
- Grace Martucci '28 caused a season-high five turnovers and scooped up three ground balls.
- Hamilton's Clara Paolucci '28 made three saves.
- Tristian Davis scored two goals for the Golden Eagles. Karaline McCarthy contributed an assist and five draw controls, Paige Thowe collected four ground balls, and Arianna Reed stopped 19 shots.
- The Continentals dominated the action as they enjoyed a 43-11 shot advantage and had 24 ground balls to Brockport's 10. Hamilton was a perfect 19-for-19 on clear attempts while the Golden Eagles committed 28 turnovers and were 15-for-23 on clears.
- The only previous meeting between the two teams was the first round of the 2011 NCAA championship when the Continentals emerged with a 14-7 victory on Steuben Field.
