Taft '27 takes seventh in men's 50 free at NCAA swimming and diving meet

Sophomore goes for national title in the 200 free on Thursday, March 20

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Hamilton College's Nathaniel Taft '27 finished in seventh place in the championship final of the men's 50-yard freestyle in the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at Greensboro Aquatic Center on Wednesday night, March 19.
 
Taft earned 12 team points for the Continentals with his performance. He competes in the 200 free on Thursday, March 20. The preliminary heats begin at 10 a.m.
 
Taft, who was seeded 20th in the event, recorded the seventh-fastest time out of 49 athletes with a season-best time of 19.93 seconds in the morning prelims. He came back in the evening and posted a time of 19.99 seconds. Taft, who was swimming in lane one, completed the first 25 yards in 9.80 seconds. He posted one of the fastest times of the eight swimmers over the last 25 yards in 10.19 seconds.
 
James Schwenk of St. Mary's College of Maryland was the race winner with a time of 19.53 seconds.
