MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Hamilton College Continentals wrapped up a successful St. Patrick's Day at the USSSA Space Coast Complex, claiming a 15-4 win in five innings over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in the first game, and an 8-3 victory over Western Connecticut State University in the nightcap.
Season Update
Hamilton (4-0 overall) is set to take on Grinnell College at 2:30 p.m. and St. Norbert College at 4:45 p.m. at the USSSA Space Coast Complex.

How It Happened
- Hamilton exploded for nine runs in the opening frame. Jordan Merklin '26 led off with a walk, stole second, and advanced to third on a single to left center by Emma Tansky '25 before scoring on a passed ball. Tansky crossed the plate on a triple to the center field fence by Lucy Ballard '27. Consecutive hits by Nikki Dyche '28, Sofia Santana '26, Gabby Garrison '27 and Julia Hacker '27 brought in three more runs. The Continentals cycled back to the top of the lineup where Merklin singled to right center and scored Hacker. Ella Heftved '25, who had drawn a walk, came home on a passed ball. Alexis Mayer '26 capped off the exciting inning with a triple to left center that scored Tansky.
- The Trailblazers answered with three runs on three hits in the bottom half. With a runner on second base and one out, Teagan Graham '25 ended the inning by striking out the next two batters.
- The Continentals took back all three runs in the second inning. Dyche led off with a single through the left side, Santana bunted for a single, and Garrison scored Dyche on a single up the middle. Santana and Garrison scored on passed balls and gave Hamilton a comfortable 12-3 cushion.
- MCLA plated its fourth and final run in the bottom half on two hits and two walks.
- Hamilton added a run in the third inning on a walk and a passed ball, and extended its lead to 15-4 with two more runs in the fourth.
- The game was stopped after the bottom of the fifth inning due to the eight-run mercy rule.

- Tansky scored three runs, recorded three hits, and stole a team-leading three bases.
- Garrison matched her career high with three hits, including her third career double. She drove in two runs and scored three.

How It Happened
- Similar to Sunday's season-opening win against the Wolves, Mayer sent a two-run blast over the fence in left-center field for a 2-0 Continentals lead in the first inning.
- Hamilton erupted for four runs in the fourth inning. Hadley Rogers '26 was hit by a pitch, Yael Everett '28 laid down a bunt single, and Tansky loaded the bases with an infield single to the pitcher. The pitcher tried to throw out the lead runner going to third base, but no one was covering and Rogers scored. Mayer drove in Everett with an RBI groundout and Alison Zorn '26 plated Tansky with a hard-hit single to third. Charlie Quinn '25 reached on a fielder's choice and later scored on Santana's single through the right side, extending the lead to 6-0.
- WestConn plated its first run of the night in the bottom half of the inning.
- The Continentals answered with another run in the fourth inning, thanks to two hits. Everett smacked a one-out single to right field, and Mayer drove her home with a high fly ball to right that was carried by the wind for a double.
- Hamilton extended its lead to 8-1 in the fifth inning highlighted by a run-scoring triple by Gaby Guerra '27.
- The Wolves earned their final two runs in the bottom half.

- Mayer crushed her second home run in as many games against WestConn, tallied her third double in four contests, and led the team with four runs batted in.
- Guerra registered her first career triple.
- Everett posted a team-high three runs and three hits. She also earned her first collegiate win in the circle, giving up just one run on four hits while walking two and striking out two in four innings.
- Tansky earned the save as she gave up one earned run on two hits, walked one, and struck out three over three solid innings of work.
- The Wolves (3-2), who are part of the Little East Conference, lost twice to Hamilton in Florida.
