Men's lacrosse downed by No. 8 Gettysburg at Stevenson's Mustang Classic

Hickey '26 won 12-of-18 faceoffs and scooped up seven ground balls for the Continentals

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Gettysburg College scored the first four goals and the Bullets led the rest of the way in their 10-6 non-conference win against the Hamilton College Continentals in the 2025 Stevenson University Callum Robinson Mustang Classic at Mustang Stadium on Saturday afternoon, March 15.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (1-4 overall) lost its third straight, but all three opponents were nationally ranked.
  • Nationally ranked No. 8 Gettysburg (4-2), which is a member of the Centennial Conference, played its first game an unranked team.
 

How It Happened

  • The Bullets led 3-0 after one quarter and 5-1 at the half.
  • Will Heher '25 scored for the Continentals with 4:56 left in the second quarter.
  • Hamilton didn't get closer than three goals in the second half. Frank Coyle '26 made it 5-2 with 11:51 remaining in the third quarter, and Justin Pearl '25 pulled the Continentals within 6-3 with 9:07 to go.
  • Gettysburg held an 8-4 advantage through three quarters.
 

Notes

  • Heher topped Hamilton with three points on two goals and an assist. He has scored two goals in three of the last four games and has seven this season.
  • Coyle chipped in a goal and a helper. He leads the Continentals with 10 goals and six assists.
  • Thomas Healy '26 scored his ninth goal this season, Pearl notched his sixth and Jesse Delinsky '26 registered his fourth.
  • Reece Hickey '26 won 12-of-18 faceoffs and scooped up a season-high seven ground balls.
  • Healy collected four ground balls. He and Hickey are tied for the team lead with 17.
  • Hamilton's Jack Fried '25 made 11 saves.
  • Jack Dunleavy led the Bullets' balanced offense with three points on two goals and an assist. Seven different players scored.
  • Miles Balachandran caused four turnovers and picked up four ground balls, and Will Hedley added three caused turnovers and four ground balls. Murphy Hoey stopped 12 shots.
  • The Continentals owned a 37-25 advantage in ground balls, but they committed 22 turnovers to Gettysburg's 13.
  • This was the first meeting between the teams since 1978.
 

Next Game

Hamilton returns to NESCAC play on Saturday, March 22 when the Continentals host Colby College (1-3, 0-3) at 1 p.m.
