Truchon '26 leads women's hockey to another NESCAC win at No. 10 Bowdoin

Junior forward posted the game-winning goal and added an assist in 3-1 victory

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Hamilton College's Lilly Truchon '26 posted a goal and an assist in the Continentals' 3-1 NESCAC win against the Bowdoin College Polar Bears inside Bowdoin's Sidney J. Watson Arena on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 8.

Season Update

  • The Continentals (11-9-2, 6-6-2 NESCAC) won for the seventh time in their last nine games. Hamilton moved to .500 in the NESCAC for the first time this season.
  • The 10th-ranked Polar Bears (13-6-0, 7-5) have lost four straight and five of their last six.

How it Happened

  • Bowdoin put the first score on the board on Bella Schifano's goal with 1:40 left in the first period. Abigail Anley's shot deflected off the goaltender's facemask and landed in front of the crease. Chaos ensued in front of the net and Schifano found the puck through four Hamilton skaters.
  • The Continentals quickly answered on a long-range goal by Gabby Martiniello '28 with 22.3 seconds remaining in the first. Grace Crowley '26 spun around a Bowdoin defender and delivered the puck to Truchon. Her shot deflected off a Polar Bear and found its way to Martiniello at the blue line where she fired a wrist shot past the Bowdoin goaltender.
  • The lone goal of the second period was scored by Truchon and put Hamilton ahead 2-1 with 44 seconds left. Crowley brought the puck behind the net, outmaneuvered a defender and laid it off to Ali Joseph '25. Joseph quickly passed it to Truchon who was waiting to shoot in front of the goal.
  • The Continentals took advantage of a power-play opportunity for an insurance goal 8:47 into the third period. After a blocked shot, a Bowdoin clearance was intercepted by Lydia Bullock '26. Bullock quickly fired a shot past the goaltender's left shoulder and gave Hamilton a 3-1 lead.
  • The Polar Bears pulled their goaltender for a sixth skater for most of the last two minutes, but the advantage led to only two shots on goal.

Notes

  • Truchon leads the Continentals with seven goals. She has three multi-point games in her last four. Truchon finished the weekend with two goals and two assists against Bowdoin.
  • Martiniello, who is a defender, recorded her second goal of the season.

  • Crowley's two assists puts her in a tie for fourth in the NESCAC with 11, and she is tied with Truchon for the team lead with 13 points. She also won 12-of-18 faceoffs.
  • Joseph picked up a helper for the second time in as many days.
