Women’s basketball powers past Conn. College, Lambo ’26 scores 1,000th point

Continentals used a 14-0 run in the second quarter to take the lead for good

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Taylor Lambo '26 scored her 1,000th career point and Althea Hill '26 dropped in 15 as the Continentals posted an 81-69 NESCAC win against the Connecticut College Camels on Hamilton's Coach Tom Murphy Court inside Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Friday evening, Feb. 7. 
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (14-7, 3-4) snapped its losing skid at four. 
  • The Camels (10-12, 0-8) lost their sixth straight contest. 

How It Happened

  • Erica Hills '28 drained a three-pointer and gave the Continentals an 8-5 edge with 6:08 left in the first quarter. 
  • The Camels went on a 7-0 run and took a 17-13 lead, but Annabelle Semeter '28 hit two free throws and cut the Continentals' deficit to just two points as the quarter came to a close.
  • Conn. College built a seven-point lead at 24-17, but the Continentals quickly reversed the momentum with a 14-0 run and grabbed a 31-24 lead with 2:33 remaining in the second quarter. Kendall Harris '27 ignited the rally with an old-fashioned three-point play and Sam Glickman '25 sealed it with a layup.
  • With just two seconds left in the quarter, Tessa Cole '25 hit a clutch three-pointer from the left wing for a 39-33 advantage at halftime.
  • Hill put up five unanswered points, including a three-pointer and a pull-up jumper, and extended the lead to 46-37 with 7:39 to go in the third quarter.
  • The Camels cut their deficit to just four points twice in the final 1:28 of the quarter, but Hills made a layup in the closing seconds and extended Hamilton's lead to 56-50 as they headed into the fourth. 
  • Another timely three-pointer by Hill extended the Continentals' lead to 64-55. Moments later, Harris sank a pair at the line and pushed the advantage to 11 points with 5:20 remaining.
  • The Continentals stretched their lead to as many as 15 points on two separate occasions in the final 3:21.

Notes

  • Lambo finished with 16 points and has 1,014 for her career. She is the 11th Continental in team history to reach the milestone and the first since 2016. Lambo also added a team-best 12 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season.
  • Hill was 6-of-8 from the field including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. 
  • Harris chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds. 
  • Cole tallied 11 points, made three steals and passed out a career-best eight assists. 
  • Hills contributed nine points and Semeter had eight off the bench. 
  • Hayle Thompson led Conn. College with 13 points, five rebounds and five blocked shots. 
  • Mia Xerras scored 11 points and handed out five assists, and Avery Burns had 11 points off the bench. 
  • Catie Donadio had 10 points and Valeria Santiago Dedós added eight. 
  • The Continentals shot 42.4 percent (28-66) from the field, including 42.1 percent (8-19) from three-point range, and went 17-for-23 at the line. Hamilton made 7-of-10 shots in the fourth quarter.
  • Conn. College shot 45.2 percent (28-62) from the floor, including 6-of-19 from beyond the arc, and went 7-for-10 at the charity stripe. 
  • Hamilton owned a 43-34 edge on the glass, including 16 offensive boards, and had 18 second-chance points to the Camels' seven. 

Next Game 

Hamilton hosts Tufts University (14-7, 5-3) on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. The Continentals will honor Cole, Abigael Morin '25 and Glickman during a Senior Day ceremony prior to tip-off.
