MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Hamilton College Continentals finished in eighth place out of 11 teams at the 2025 NESCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship inside the Middlebury College Natatorium on Sunday, Feb. 23.
Hamilton swimmers set three team records and made NCAA championship 'B' cuts in two events on the fourth and final day of the meet. The Continentals finished fourth and earned a 'B' cut with a team-record time of 3:00.66 in the 400-yard freestyle relay – the last event of the championship.
Steven Roche '27, Alex Vasquez '27, Loui Chambon '28 and
Nathaniel Taft '27 were the members of the relay.
Taft finished second in the finals of the 100 free and his time of 43.68 seconds in the preliminary heats gave him another 'B' cut.
Chambon posted a time of 1:50.41 in the 200 backstroke and broke a team record that had stood for 10 years. Reid Swartz '15 held the old record of 1:50.48 since Feb. 22, 2015. Chambon also holds the team record in the 500 free.
Matthew Chang '28 eclipsed his own record in the 200 butterfly originally set in December 2024 at Ithaca College with a time of 1:50.97 in the prelims. Chang set four Hamilton records in individual events during the weekend.
The Continentals find out who is selected for the NCAA Division III championships on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
