AMHERST, Mass. – Amherst College's Gretchen Dann scored with 2:23 left in the sudden-victory overtime period and lifted the Mammoths to a 1-0 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals inside Amherst's Orr Rink on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 22.
Season Update
- Hamilton (11-11-2, 6-8-2 NESCAC) is the fifth seed for the NESCAC championship. The Continentals were 3-6-1 against ranked teams during the regular season.
- The sixth-ranked Mammoths (18-5-1, 11-4-1) extended their win streak to four games and improved to 11-0 at home this season. Amherst ended up with the No. 1 seed for the conference championship.
How It Happened
- Hamilton had a power-play chance midway through the third period and rattled off seven shot attempts including three on goal during those two minutes.
- Lydia Bullock '26 and Grace Crowley '26 put shots on net during the first minute of overtime, but Natalie Stott stopped both of them.
Notes
- Evie Sheridan '26 made 12 of her 28 saves in the first period for the Continentals. Sheridan was making her first start since Jan. 21. She has allowed one goal or fewer in five of her six starts.
- Crowley won half of her 20 faceoffs.
- Sophia Rodham '27 blocked four shots.
- Stott turned away 30 shots.
- Emily Hohmann had an assist on the game-winning goal and blocked three shots.
- The Mammoths won 29-of-46 faceoffs.
- Hamilton had two power-play opportunities and Amherst received only one.
- The Mammoths have won the last four regular season meetings. The Continentals edged Amherst 2-1 in a 2024 NESCAC championship semifinal.
