WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Hamilton College's
Charlie Archer '25 made 30 saves and the Continentals blanked the Williams College Ephs 5-0 in NESCAC action inside Williams' Lansing Chapman Rink on Friday night, Feb. 21.
Season Update
- Nationally ranked No. 11 Hamilton (17-5-1, 13-3-1 NESCAC) clinched the No. 1 seed for the NESCAC championship, which starts on Saturday, March 1 with the quarterfinals. The Continentals are the top seed for the third time in championship history and the first time since 2017.
- The Ephs (8-12-3, 5-10-2) are winless in their last five games and were shut out in their third straight.
How It Happened
- Hamilton scored its first goal just 1:38 into the first period. Alex Danis '26 sent a pass from below the goal line to Max Bulawka '26 for a wrist shot through traffic from the left faceoff circle.
- Brady Welsch almost tied the score with a little less than four minutes left in the first. Welsch blocked a shot at the blue line and it turned into a breakaway. He went in one-on-one with Archer but his shot sailed above the crossbar.
- Luke Tchor '27 made it 2-0 with a power-play goal at 4:14 of the second period. Devon de Vries '27 had the puck at the point and passed to Tchor near the left post where he lifted a wrist shot over the goaltender.
- Tchor was involved with the third goal with 7:43 left in the second. He rushed into the offensive zone along the right-side boards and put a wrist shot on net from the right faceoff circle. The goaltender made the save but didn't hold the puck and Jackson Krock '26 chipped the rebound into the back of the net.
- The Continentals went up 4-0 with 5:17 remaining in the third period. Bulawka set it up with a pass from below the left faceoff circle and John Wojciechowski '28 hammered a one-timer from the middle of the circle.
- Ben Zimmerman '26 completed the scoring with another power-play tally with 2:49 to go on a wrist shot from the point.
Notes
- Archer recorded his second consecutive shutout and his fourth this season. He hasn't allowed a goal in more than 151 minutes. Archer is third in Division III with a 1.24 goals against average and third with a .947 save percentage.
- Tchor finished with a goal and an assist. He leads the NESCAC with 14 goals and 30 points and is fourth with 16 assists.
- Bulawka ended up with a goal and a helper and won 9-of-11 faceoffs. He has at least one point in four of the last five games.
- Danis registered two assists in a game for the first time in his Hamilton career.
- Krock notched his 12th goal and is second to Tchor in the conference. Krock has scored a goal in six of the last seven contests.
- Wojciechowski – a defenseman -- potted his second goal this season.
- Zimmerman scored his third goal of 2024-25.
- William Neault '25 had an assist and four blocked shots. Neault has an assist in three of the last four games.
- Justin Biraben '27, who added an assist, has at least a point in four consecutive games.
- Nick Kent '27 picked up his 18th helper, which is good for third in the NESCAC.
- The Continentals won 38-of-64 faceoffs. They win better than 54 percent of their faceoffs this season.
- Cal Sandquist stopped 22 shots for Williams.
- Hamilton was 2-for-4 on the power play while the Ephs were scoreless in three chances.
- The Continentals swept the season series as they also defeated Williams 5-1 in Clinton on Dec. 6. Hamilton is 11-0-1 in the last 12 meetings with the Ephs.
