CLINTON, N.Y. – Colby College ran off 14 straight points in the last three minutes of the fourth quarter and the Mules defeated the Hamilton College Continentals 65-55 in NESCAC action on Hamilton's Coach Tom Murphy Court inside Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Season Update
- Hamilton (13-7, 2-4 NESCAC) has dropped its last four games.
- Colby (11-8, 5-1) has won eight of its last nine contests.
How It Happened
- The Mules evened the score at 47-47 with the first three points of the final quarter.
- Hamilton held a slim 53-51 lead after a Taylor Lambo '26 layup with 4:58 left, but Colby went on its game-clinching run and the Mules pushed their advantage to 65-53 with just 19 seconds remaining.
- An old-fashioned three-point play by Lambo pushed the Continentals' lead to eight points at 41-33 with 6:02 remaining in the third quarter.
- Colby responded with a 10-2 run and tied the score at 43-43 with 1:04 remaining. K
- Hamilton's Kendall Harris '27 capped off the quarter by scoring the final four points for a 47-43 lead.
- The Continentals scored the first points and stretched its lead to 9-2 with 6:57 left in the first quarter.
- Back-to-back three-pointers by Althea Hill '26 and Tessa Cole '25 gave the Continentals a 17-6 advantage with 4:30 left.
- Colby responded with back-to-back three-pointers and narrowed its deficit to five points at 19-14. However, Lambo answered with two layups and extended Hamilton's lead to 23-14 as the first quarter came to a close.
- Three consecutive three-pointers extended the Continentals' advantage to 12 points at 34-22 with less than five minutes remaining in the second quarter.
- The Mules ended the quarter on a 7-2 run and cut Hamilton's lead to seven at 36-29 at the half.
Notes
- Lambo grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds and scored 17 points for her 11th double-double this season. She added three assists and two blocked shots. Lambo has 998 career points.
- Hill tied a season best with 15 points.
- Harris finished with 12 points and is fifth in the NESCAC with 16.1 per game.
- Erica Hills '28 contributed five points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.
- Ana Von Rumohr led the Mules with 16 points.
- Chelsea Ibenegbu scored 15 points and topped the team with three blocked shots and four steals.
- Lydia Mordarski chipped in 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
- Kate Olenik put up 12 points and seven boards.
- The Continentals shot 33.3 percent (20-60) from the field, including 30.4 percent (7-23) from beyond the arc, and went 8-for-11 at the free-throw line.
- Colby shot 36.5 percent (19-52) from the floor, including 36.8 percent (7-19) from the three-point line, and went 20-for-28 (71.4 percent) at the line.
- Hamilton owned a 45-33 edge on the glass, but committed 18 turnovers, which led to 17 points for the Mules.
