Men's squash finishes busy weekend with hard-fought match with Chatham

Continentals dropped a 6-3 decision that could easily have gone their way

Jamie Merrill '26
CLINTON, N.Y. – Chatham University swept the top and middle of the ladder in the Cougars' 6-3 win against the Hamilton College Continentals inside Hamilton's Little Squash Center on Sunday, Dec. 7.

The Continentals split four matches over the course of the three-day weekend and moved their record to 3-5. Hamilton is 27th in the College Squash Association varsity team rankings and Chatham is ranked 24th.

Jamie Merrill '26 was a winner in four games at the seventh position and has three victories this season. Jacob Stoffman '28 leads the Continentals with four wins after he swept his opponent in three games at the eighth position.

The match easily could have fallen in Hamilton's favor as William Gianopulos '29 extended his opponent to five games at the sixth position, and Lucas Walden '28 played three long, tense games that all could have gone either way at the fifth position.

Hamilton is off for finals and the holidays until Tuesday, Jan. 6 when the Continentals play at Stanford University.
