CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College scored three goals in the first period and the Continentals cruised to a 6-3 win over the Utica University Pioneers inside Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Tuesday night, Dec. 2.

Season Update

  • Nationally ranked No. 14 Hamilton (4-1-1 overall) has won its last four games -- all at home.
  • Utica (3-5-0) dropped to 0-4 on the road.

How It Happened

  • Hamilton opened the scoring nine minutes into the first period following a flurry of chances. A shot by Gabby Martiniello '28 from just inside the blue line was saved, but Ava Romano '27 recovered the puck, fired a shot that was blocked, and placed another shot past the goaltender.
  • Grace Puskar '27 won a faceoff for the Continentals on the right side of their offensive zone late in the first. Carly McMahon '27 lifted the puck towards the goal line, and Bri Rockwood '28 hit a one-time shot in traffic that snuck past the goaltender with 3:03 left.
  • Hamilton sprung a counterattack and extended its lead to 3-0 with 1:06 remaining in the opening period. Lilly Truchon '26 sent a pass up the left boards to Lila Snow '29, who received the puck at the blue line in Hamilton's defensive zone. Snow skated with pace past her defender and fired a shot from close range for her first career goal.
  • Utica got a goal back 1:56 into the second period. Kaci Ryder found Madison Richman and she fired a wrist shot from the left side of the offensive zone.
  • With 14:36 left in the second, Romano centered a pass from the goal line to Snow, who placed her shot perfectly into the top-right corner.
  • The Continentals made it 5-1 with 9:45 left in the period. Sophia Testa '26 received the puck just in front of the blue line and wristed a shot towards goal. The puck bounced off Katie Allen '26 and landed in front of Grace Long '27, who pounced on it and placed her one-time effort into the roof of the net.
  • Hamilton increased its lead to a five-goal cushion at 4:24 of the third period. Grace Crowley '26 pried the puck loose at the red line and Jamie Porter '28 skated into the right side of the offensive zone and unleashed a left-handed shot that beat the goaltender.
  • The Continentals took a major penalty for boarding with 7:01 remaining in the third and another player was sent to the box for tripping with 5:26 to go. Utica took advantage and notched two power-play goals. Samantha Dobrzynski scored with 6:41 left and Kendall Best added a 5-on-3 tally with four minutes remaining.
  • Hamilton's Evie Sheridan '26 tallied 16 of her 26 saves in the third period as she withstood a flurry of shots during the five-minute power play.
