CLINTON, N.Y. – Nazareth University's Ella Mannila posted a goal and an assist in the Golden Flyers' 3-1 non-conference win against the Hamilton College Continentals inside Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Tuesday evening, Dec. 9.
Season Update
- The 15th-ranked Continentals (4-3-1 overall) lost for the first time in five home games.
- Nationally ranked No. 5 Nazareth (11-0-0), which is 4-0 in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference, is the only undefeated team left in Division III.
How It Happened
- Mannila gave the Golden Flyers a 1-0 lead with 7:53 left in the first period, and Ella Cedrone made it 2-0 with 2:27 remaining in the first.
- Hamilton took advantage of two Nazareth penalties 64 seconds apart midway through the second period. The Continentals had a 5-on-3 advantage when Sophia Rodham '27 took a wrist shot from the top of the left faceoff circle. Golden Flyers' goaltender Mia Gonsalves stopped the shot but the puck popped out to the low slot. Sadie Klein '29 deflected the loose puck to Sarah Myziuk '28 who chipped it over Gonsalves and under the crossbar with 7:51 to go.
- Lindsay Moses restored Nazareth's two-goal cushion 1:58 into the third period. Hamilton pulled goaltender Teagan Brown '27 for an extra skater with 2:44 left. The move resulted in four shots but only one was on goal.
Notes
- Myziuk leads the team with five goals and nine points. She's second in the NESCAC in goals per game.
- Rodham, who is a defender, collected her third career assist.
- Klein has recorded an assist in three of the last four games. She also won 12-of-15 faceoffs.
- Brown came up with 24 saves, including 12 in the second period.
- The Continentals won 31 faceoffs and lost just 14.
- Gonsalves made 10 of her 21 stops in the third period.
- Hamilton was 1-for-2 on the power play while the Golden Flyers were 0-for-2. The Continentals have scored on 23.1 percent of their power-play opportunities.

Hamilton is off three weeks for finals and the holidays and returns to the ice on Saturday, Jan. 3 when the Continentals host SUNY Canton (7-3-0) for another non-conference game at 3 p.m.
