Women’s basketball bested by St. Lawrence, Lambo ’26 scores season-high 24

Senior converted a career-high 12 field goals for the Continentals

CANTON, N.Y. –  St. Lawrence University shot 11-of-24 from 3-point range and the Saints led wire-to-wire in their 79-73 non-conference win over the Hamilton College Continentals inside St. Lawrence's Ronald T. Burkman Gymnasium on Wednesday evening, Dec. 10.

Season Update

  • Hamilton (5-4 overall) dropped its third straight road game.
  • St. Lawrence (6-2), which is 1-1 in the Liberty League, improved to 2-0 at home.
 

How It Happened

  • Hamilton scored all 16 of its first-quarter points in the paint, shooting 8-of-12 on 2-point attempts. Taylor Lambo '26 accounted for eight points during the opening stanza.
  • St. Lawrence scored the first six points of the night and held a 15-10 advantage with 4:05 left in the first.
  • Hannah Bernstein '28 and Lambo converted layups on consecutive possessions and made it a one-point game at the 2:32 mark, but the Saints responded with a 6-0 burst via 3-pointers by Jackie Malley and Izzy Caron.
  • With 35 seconds left in the opening frame, Althea Hill '26 delivered a pass to Annabelle Semeter '28, who drove baseline and finished a layup just before the shot clock expired that trimmed Hamilton's deficit to 21-16 at the end of the first.
  • Hamilton created plenty of second-chance opportunities during the second quarter, but shot just 7-of-22 from the field.
  • 3-pointers by Malley at 5:08 and 3:44 in the second sandwiched a layup by Lambo and gave the Saints a 34-25 advantage.
  • Zoe Myslewicz '28 scored in the paint with 2:31 left in the half, but the Saints converted jumpers on back-to-back possessions for their first double-digit lead at 40-29.
  • St. Lawrence scored the final basket of the first half with 37 seconds remaining and held a 42-31 lead at the intermission.
  • Hamilton had its most efficient offensive quarter in the third, shooting 8-of-14 from the field and 5-for-5 at the line.
  • St. Lawrence grabbed its largest lead of 19 points at 60-41 with 4:01 left in the third following a layup by Mason Baker-Schlendering, but the Continentals closed the quarter on an 11-0 run and trimmed their deficit to 60-52 heading into the fourth. Semeter provided seven points during the run, including an old-fashioned 3-point play on a fast break with 3:12 remaining.
  • Lambo converted a layup with 4:55 remaining in the fourth quarter that made it 66-59, but the Saints answered with a 3-pointer on their next possession.
  • Hamilton was unable to trim its deficit below five points during the fourth.


Notes

  • Lambo scored a season-high 24 points on a career-high 12 made field goals. She also provided team highs with eight rebounds and three assists.
  • Kendall Harris '27 also scored in double figures with 12 points. Harris is a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line so far this season.
  • Harris and Lambo have each scored in double figures six times this season.
  • Hamilton scored a season-high 56 points in the paint and a season-best 17 second-chance points.
  • The Continentals shot 0-of-9 from 3-point range, marking the first time since the 2021-22 season that they did not record a made 3-pointer.
  • Malley led the Saints with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range.
  • Baker-Schlendering tallied a double-double for St. Lawrence with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
  • Norah Niesz and Annie Perry also scored in double figures for the Saints with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Hamilton returns home to host Union College (5-1) on Saturday, Dec. 13.
