Myziuk ’28 hat trick nets No. 15 women’s hockey a 6-2 win over Morrisville

Sophomore added an assist for the Continentals' first four-point game since Feb. 2022

CLINTON, N.Y. -- Hamilton College's Sarah Myziuk '28 recorded a hat trick and the Continentals posted a 6-2 win against the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs in their first non-conference game this season inside Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 25.
 

Season Update

  • The 15th-ranked Continentals (3-1-1 overall) won their third straight and are unbeaten in their last four.
  • Morrisville (1-7-0) was coming off its first win this season, a 3-0 decision against SUNY Potsdam on Nov. 22.
 

How It Happened

  • The Continentals held a 12-10 edge in shots in the first period.
  • Morrisville took a 1-0 lead with 9:35 left in the first when Scarlett Smith tipped it in behind Mac Donovan '26.
  • Hamilton tied the score 30 seconds later. Grace Long '27 got it into the Continentals' offensive end and took a shot that the goaltender deflected, and Myziuk pushed the puck into the corner of the net.
  • Morrisville's Tilly Couture gave the lead back to the Mustangs with 1:54 left in the first period as she snuck the puck through the side and found the top corner.
  • Myziuk scored and tied the score again 4:02 into the second period with a wrist shot off a pass from Katie Allen '26.
  • Hamilton grabbed a 3-2 edge with 11:39 to go in the second. Long won a faceoff and got the puck to Myziuk, who carried it to the other side of the ice and scored her third goal of the afternoon.
  • Molly Ji '29 scored off a pass from Sadie Klein '29 and increased the Continentals' advantage to two goals with 2:48 remaining in the period.
  • In the third period Allen received the puck from Myziuk via a pass that deflected off the end boards behind the goal. Allen tipped it in from the side of the net with 6:20 to go.
  • Ava Romano '27 completed the scoring with 4:42 left. Romano got a touch from the slot on a shot by Sophia Testa '26 and redirected the puck past goaltender Gabrielle Brazeau.
 

Notes

  • Donovan made 18 saves in their first start since the 2024 NESCAC championship final.
  • Myziuk scored her second, third, and fourth goals of the season. She leads the team with eight points on four goals and four assists in just four games. It was Hamilton's first hat trick since Bri Rockwood '28 on Jan. 21, 2025, and the first four-point game by a Continental since Hyla Mosher '23 on Feb. 11, 2022.
  • Long, who entered the day with two career assists, picked up three helpers.
  • Testa – a defender – posted her second career multi-point game with two assists.
  • Ji scored her first collegiate goal and recorded her first point in her second game.
  • Klein and Lila Snow '29 gained their first points with an assist.
  • Allen scored her first goal of the season and registered the first multi-point game of her Hamilton career.
  • Romano scored her first goal of the year.
  • Hamilton enjoyed a 50-20 shot advantage and won 33-of-57 faceoffs.
  • Grace Puskar '27 won 11-of-13 faceoffs and chipped in an assist.
  • The Continentals have won the last 10 meetings with Morrisville.
  • Hamilton has allowed one power-play goal in 10 chances this season.

The Continentals host Utica University (3-4-0) for another non-conference contest on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m.
