HARTFORD, Conn. – Hamilton College's
Nathaniel Taft '27 was part of four pool records and broke the men's swimming and diving team record in the 50-yard backstroke as the Continentals defeated Trinity College and Colby College in a tri-meet at the Trinity Natatorium on Sunday, Nov. 23.
Hamilton (2-0 overall) cruised to a 214-67 win against the hosts and edged Colby 132-129 thanks in part to Taft's anchor leg in the meet's last event – the 200 freestyle relay. The Continentals compete in the three-day Massachusetts Institute of Technology Winter Invitational starting on Friday, Dec. 5.
Taft was the only swimmer in the relay that recorded a 50-yard split time under 20 seconds (19.69). Hamilton's 200 free relay time set a pool record. The other swimmers were
Alex Vasquez '27, Henry Wiemeyer '26 and
Ethan Olivo '26.
Taft broke pool records in the 50 back and the 50 and 100 free. Other event wins included
Matthew Hake '26 in the 50 and 100 breaststroke, and
Steven Roche '27 in the 200 individual medley.
