Three points for Puskar '27 in 4-1 women's hockey win over Trinity

Junior scored two goals and added an assist for the 15th-ranked Continentals

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Grace Puskar '27 scored two goals and added an assist in the Continentals' 4-1 NESCAC win against the Trinity College Bantams inside Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 22.

Season Update

  • The 15th-ranked Continentals (2-1-1, 2-1-1 NESCAC) shut out Trinity 2-0 on Friday night and swept the season series with the Bantams.
  • Trinity (0-4-0, 0-4) has scored one goal in its last three games.

How It Happened

  • Hamilton had a 12-3 shot advantage in the first period but the teams headed to their locker rooms in a scoreless tie.
  • Kate French put the Bantams in the lead on her goal 2:29 into the second period. Lillian Cassidy and Gabriela Gross had the assists.
  • The Continentals drew even at 8:04 of the second. Puskar took a pass behind the net, skated to her left and sent the puck up to Sophia Testa '26 above the right faceoff circle. Puskar moved towards the slot and tipped Testa's wrist shot past the goaltender.
  • Hamilton took the lead on a power-play goal with 8:26 left in the period. Puskar made an excellent move at the blue line and gained the offensive zone. She put two shots on goal that Kathrine Lemke stopped, but the puck squirted away and Sarah Myziuk '28 was there to chip it in at the right post. The Continentals held their 2-1 edge through 40 minutes.
  • Hamilton converted on the power play again 7:54 into the third period. Sophie Berghammer '26 took a wrist shot from the blue line above the left faceoff circle that deflected off Lemke and bounced several feet away to the left. Puskar reached the puck first and scored on a one-timer from a tough angle below the faceoff circle.
  • Trinity had one last chance to rally with 3:23 remaining in the third when the Continentals were called for delaying the game and the Bantams pulled Lemke for the 6-on-4 advantage. The move resulted in four shots including two on net over the next two minutes, but no goals.
  • Trinity kept Lemke on the bench in favor of the sixth skater. A long shot towards the empty net by Lilly Truchon '26 hit the outside of the right post shortly after the Bantams' power play expired. Truchon got another chance after Grace Crowley '26 won a defensive zone faceoff directly to Truchon, and this time she sent the puck down the ice into the empty net with 37.9 seconds to go for the final margin.

  • Puskar's two goals and three points were career highs and her first points this season.
