Women's basketball takes first loss of season, 59-52 at SUNY Oneonta

Lambo '26 was the Continentals' representative on the all-tournament team

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- SUNY Oneonta erased a six-point deficit in the fourth quarter with 13 consecutive points and the Red Dragons rallied for a 59-52 victory against the Hamilton College Continentals in the 2025 Oneonta & Hartwick Classic inside Oneonta's Dewar Arena on Saturday, Nov. 22.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (4-1 overall), which received votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Preseason Poll, was coming off a 75-23 win against Hartwick College in the first game of the Oneonta & Hartwick Classic on Friday night.
  • The Red Dragons (3-1) edged Eastern Connecticut State University 74-69 in overtime on Friday night.
 

How It Happened

  • The score was tied 40-40 going into the fourth quarter.
  • Hamilton took its first lead since midway through the second quarter with 8:38 left on two free throws by Althea Hill '26. Two baskets by Kendall Harris '27 pushed the lead to 46-40 with 6:33 remaining.
  • A rebound and putback by Addy Eckert gave Oneonta its first points of the quarter with 5:41 to go. Seven straight points by Carlie Young, including two free throws that made it 48-46 with 3:50 left, put the Red Dragons in front for good. Young drilled a three-pointer with 2:45 remaining that put them up by five.
  • The Continentals didn't get closer than five points during the final two minutes. Hamilton was 0-for-4 with three turnovers during Oneonta's pivotal 13-0 run.
  • With a slow offensive start for both teams, Oneonta grabbed its first lead with 1:42 left in the opening quarter and held a 10-7 edge after the opening 10 minutes. Hamilton's defense forced four steals in the quarter, including two by Zoe Myslewicz '28.
  • Neither team led by more than four points in a fast-paced second quarter. The Red Dragons' Lidia Boucher drained back-to-back threes that put Oneonta up 21-19 with 2:42 to go before the half. Oneonta took a 25-21 advantage into the locker room.
  • The teams traded baskets for much of the third quarter before Tyalia Fret-Thom finished a layup and sank a three for a 36-29 lead with 3:26 left. Harris answered with a jumper but Kendall Mack drained a three and pushed Oneonta's cushion to eight at 39-31.
  • The Continentals ended the quarter on a 9-1 run and pulled even. Taylor Lambo '26 delivered with three layups and a free throw, and Annabelle Semeter '28 made two at the line.
 

Notes

  • Harris finished with a game-high 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
  • Lambo, who was named to the all-tournament team, contributed 16 points, eight boards and four steals.
  • Hamilton won its previous three matchups with Oneonta in 2021, 2023 and 2024.
  • Hamilton was 8-for-9 at line for a season-high free throw percentage of 88.9 percent.
  • Boucher's double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds led the Red Dragons.
  • Megan Desrats handed out six assists and made three steals.
  • Hamilton shot 31.8 percent (21-66) from the field including just 2-of-19 from beyond the arc.
  • The Continentals played their first true road game of the season.
 

Next Game

Hamilton travels to Milton, Mass., where it will face Curry College (1-4) on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m.
