Sordillo '27 and Tchor '27 scored goals for the third straight game for red-hot Continentals

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – After giving up a shorthanded goal early in the second period, the Hamilton College Continentals scored four unanswered and went on to a comfortable 6-1 NESCAC victory against the Wesleyan University Cardinals inside Wesleyan's Spurrier-Snyder Rink on Friday night, Nov. 21.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (3-0-0, 3-0 NESCAC) is ranked ninth in the USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll as of Nov. 17.
  • The Cardinals (1-2-0, 1-2) were trying to build on the momentum of a 3-2 win at Connecticut College on Nov. 15.
 

How It Happened

  • Hamilton opened the scoring 1:36 into the first period as Noah Leibl '27 carried the puck across the blue line and found the top corner of the net.
  • Devon de Vries '27 made it 2-0 with 6:31 left in the first period. Connor Thue '29 carried the puck down the ice and found de Vries with a centering pass.
  • Wesleyan cut its deficit in half 2:24 into the second period. Danny Markham took advantage of a giveaway and scored an unassisted, shorthanded goal that briefly gave the Cardinals life.
  • Luke Tchor '27 made sure the Cardinals' momentum was short-lived with a goal that restored the two-goal cushion with 8:05 remaining in the second.
  • With 1:45 left in the period, Ryan Sordillo '27 passed the puck to Clarence Beltz '29 who was hovering in front of the net. Beltz quickly slotted the puck home for a 4-1 lead.
  • Sordillo scored the Continentals' fifth goal with 5:18 to go in the third period. John Wojciechowski '28 put a shot on goal that was stopped by Patrick McDevitt and Sordillo was there to pounce on the rebound.
  • Jacob Ierfino '27 rounded out the scoring with 2:56 left and just 14 seconds into a power play after a Wesleyan player picked up a five-minute major penalty for boarding.
 

Notes

  • The Continentals extended their win streak against Wesleyan to six games.
  • Hamilton started the season 3-0 for the third straight season.
  • Thue recorded three assists in his third game with the Continentals. It's already the second time a Hamilton player has three helpers in a game this season.
  • Beltz scored the first goal of his collegiate career.
  • Sordillo finished with a goal and an assist and Justin Biraben '27 added two assists.
  • Sordillo and Tchor have scored a goal in all three games so far this season.
  • Aksel Reid '27 made 17 saves in his second start of 2025-26. He has a goals against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .957.
  • Hamilton was 1-for-6 on the power play while the Cardinals were 0-for-5. The Continentals' penalty kill hasn't allowed a goal in 11 opponent chances.
  • Hamilton won 36-of-61 faceoffs.
 

Next Game

The Continentals travel for another conference matchup at Trinity College (0-3-0, 0-3) in Hartford, Conn., on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 3 p.m.
