GENEVA, N.Y. – Hamilton College dominated the SUNY Fredonia Blue Devils in the paint, and the Continentals secured a 92-56 win at the 2025 Hobart College Tournament inside Bristol Gym on Friday evening, Nov. 21.
Season Update
- Hamilton (2-1 overall) received votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Preseason Poll.
- SUNY Fredonia (0-4) suffered its most lopsided loss of the season.
How it Happened
- The Continentals scored the first eight points and led the entire way.
- Jalen Reese '27 got to the basket right out of the gate, scoring on a layup in the first 18 seconds and capitalizing on an and-one free throw.
- Hamilton's advantage grew to 26-8 after the first eight minutes. Fredonia responded by scoring the next 14 points and pulled within four after Stevie Williams made a layup with 7:23 left.
- The Continentals scored seven of the next eight points during the next two minutes and restored their double-digit lead at 33-23. Hamilton went into the locker room with a 45-35 lead over the Blue Devils.
- Williams hit a three on Fredonia's first possession of the second half, but Nate Raub '27 responded with a 3-pointer on the next trip down the floor. Raub's basket was the start of a 21-4 run that ended with a fast-break layup by Matthew Rideout '27 that made it 66-42 with 11:49 remaining.
- Reese and Rideout capitalized on fast breaks, getting steals off the Blue Devils and widening the lead.
- Two free throws by Evan O'Reilly '29 put the Continentals up by 30 for the first time at 77-47 with 6:46 to go.
- With the clock dwindling down, Max Freishtat '26 came off the bench and hit two threes. Hamilton's lead grew to 40 points at 92-52 on a tip-in by Femi Ogundijo '29 with 1:59 left.
Notes
- Rideout led the Continentals with a career-high 18 points and handed out four assists.
- Reese didn't miss from the field, going 7-of-7, and finished with a career-best 16 points to go with three blocked shots.
- Raub was an asset in the paint, picking up eight boards and dropping in a career-high 13 points.
- Hamilton enjoyed a 52-22 advantage in points in the paint fueled by big-man layups and putbacks by Raub and Reese.
- The Continentals capitalized on 18 Fredonia turnovers, scoring 27 points off of them.
- Hamilton shot 55.4 percent (36-65) from the field while the Blue Devils shot just 32.2 percent (19-59).
