CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Erica Hills '28 posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and the Continentals shot 54.5% from the field as a team to register an 88-64 win over SUNY Brockport on Hamilton's Coach Tom Murphy Court inside Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
Season Update
- Hamilton (3-0 overall) won its third straight at home to begin the season.
- Brockport (1-3) concluded its season-opening four-game road swing.
How It Happened
- The Continentals got off to a hot start, shooting 13-for-15, including 3-for-4 from 3-point range in the opening quarter.
- Hamilton went on a 15-3 run during the period with the help of five consecutive points from Abbey Schwoebel '27 to establish a 24-10 advantage with 2:32 left in the first.
- An old fashioned three-point play from Reagan Dowd '29 and a jumper from Kendall Harris '27 extended Hamilton's lead to 19 points, but Brockport's Mandy Brink nailed a 3-pointer from the right wing on the final possession of the quarter to cut the lead to 33-17 after 10 minutes of play.
- Althea Hill '26, Maggie Kernodle '29, and Annabelle Semeter '28 each knocked down a 3-pointer during the first five minutes of the second quarter to make it 46-28.
- With under two minutes left in the second quarter, Harris grabbed a defensive rebound, brought the ball into the front court, dribbled past her defender and drained a pull-up jumper from the elbow to make it 53-36.
- Brockport's Brianna Carey scored a layup with under a minute remaining in the second quarter, but Hills converted a fastbreak layup just before the buzzer to give the Continentals a 55-38 lead at halftime.
- Taylor Lambo '26 found Harris for a jumper from the free throw line on the first possession of the third quarter. The Golden Eagles then went on a 10-1 run to trim their deficit to 58-48 with 5:20 left in the third.
- Hamilton responded with a 7-0 burst as layups from Lambo and Hills sandwiched a 3-pointer from Semeter.
- Schwoebel got past her defender and scored a layup with an up and under move from the right block with under 15 seconds left in the third period, then she delivered a nice pass to a cutting Hills for a layup on the final possession of the frame to give the Continentals a 70-50 lead heading into the fourth.
- Hills accounted for three of Hamilton's first five field goals in the fourth quarter, then she assisted on back-to-back foul line jumpers from Semeter, which gave Hamilton an 84-63 lead with 3:04 remaining in the fourth.
- Jaylen Manning '29 recorded her first career field goal on a jumper from the right wing during Hamilton's final possession of the game.
Notes
- Hills, Harris, Kernodle, Semeter and Schwoebel each scored in double figures on over 50% shooting from the field.
- Hills recorded her second career double-double, and her second game with double-digit rebounds. Her eight made field goals tied a career high.
- Semeter scored in double figures for the third consecutive game to begin the season.
- Harris provided 15 points on 7-for-13 shooting with seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks.
- Lambo distributed a game-high six assists to go along with 10 rebounds, seven points and three blocks.
- Hamilton totaled 49 bench points, led by 19 from Hills, 10 each from Schwoebel and Semeter, and six from Dowd.
- Hamilton shot 36-for-66 from the field as a team on Tuesday. The 36 made field goals and 88 points are the most recorded by the Continentals since they converted 42 field goals on 54.5% shooting during a 97-24 win over SUNY Canton in their 2019-20 season opener. Hamilton also made 36 field goals during an 81-38 win over Colby-Sawyer on Dec. 4, 2021.
- Hamilton's 27 assists against the Golden Eagles are the most recorded in a game since the win over Canton in 2019.
- Stephanie Jean-Baptiste and Mandy Brink both scored a team-high 13 points for the Golden Eagles.
