CANTON, N.Y. – The Hamilton College Continentals scored five unanswered goals and registered a 5-2 non-conference win against the SUNY Canton Kangaroos on Saturday evening, Nov. 15 inside SUNY Canton's Terry Martin Ice Arena.
Season Update
- Nationally ranked No. 9 Hamilton (2-0 overall) scored five goals in each of its first two games this season. The Continentals defeated Amherst College 5-1 at home in their season opener on Nov. 14.
- SUNY Canton (4-2 overall), which is receiving votes in the USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll, lost its last two after starting the season 4-0.
How It Happened
- The Continentals exploded for four goals in the second period after trailing 2-0 at the end of the first.
- The Continentals got on the board with 10:28 left in the second period as Ryan Sordillo '27 corralled the puck near the goal line and centered a pass to Justin Biraben '27 who placed his shot into the right side of the goal.
- Hamilton tied the score at 2-2 with 6:49 to go in the second. Devon de Vries '27 skated to the center of the ice, passed the puck off the left boards, and raced past a defender to regain possession. He continued towards the goal line and slid a pass to his right for Luke Tchor '27 who roofed a one-timer into the net.
- Just over three minutes later, de Vries carried the puck across the blue line and sent a pass out wide for Jackson Krock '26. Krock let loose a powerful wrist shot that beat the goalkeeper and gave the Continentals a 3-2 advantage.
- Sordillo batted in a rebound attempt out of the air with 50.7 seconds remaining for the Continentals' fourth goal of the period.
- Hamilton capitalized on a power play for its fifth goal with 2:22 left in the third period. Tchor took a pass from de Vries and quickly sent the puck across the ice to Max Bulawka '26. Bulawka evaded a defender and placed a backhand shot into the net for the final margin.
- SUNY Canton scored the first goal of the night with 5:08 remaining in the first period. Trystan Mughal delivered a pass to Niko Schoner near the faceoff dot in the right circle, and Schoner fired a wrist shot into the upper-right corner of the goal.
- The Kangaroos doubled their lead with 2:02 to go in the first. Scott Cremen sent the puck towards the goal following an offensive zone draw win and it deflected off Jordyn Mughal before finding the back of the net.

- Hamilton had five different goal scorers for the second consecutive game.
- de Vries tallied a career-high three assists and a career-best three points.
- Hamilton goalkeeper Tyler Bloomfield '28 made his collegiate debut and totaled 18 saves.
- Noah Leibl '27 tied his career high with two assists.
- Sordillo recorded two points in a game for the second time in his career.
- Biraben registered a team-high three blocked shots to go along with a goal and an assist.
- Tchor provided one goal and one assist in each of Hamilton's first two games. He and de Vries are tied for the team lead with four points apiece.
- Sebastian Hamming '28 delivered his first assist of the season.
- Hamilton has won its last three games against SUNY Canton.
- Hamilton scored four goals in one period for the first time since they scored four goals in the opening period of a 7-6 win against Amherst on Jan. 19, 2024.

The Continentals return to action on Friday, Nov. 21 for a 7 p.m. NESCAC matchup at Wesleyan University (1-1-0, 1-1).
