WATERVILLE, Maine – Colby College's Christina Sweeney scored three goals and the Mules recorded a 5-2 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Colby's Bill Alfond Field on Saturday, Oct. 4.
Season Update
- Nationally ranked No. 10 Hamilton (7-3, 2-3 NESCAC) had its win streak end at three games.
- The Mules (3-6, 1-5) were shut out in their previous two games.
How It Happened
- Colby scored three goals in the opening seven minutes of the first quarter and never looked back.
- Sammy Higgins '26 pulled the Continentals within 3-1 on a shot that got past goalie Ginna Jacoby with 6:27 left in the first right after Jacoby had stopped an attempt by Brighton McMahon '29.
- Sweeney added goals with 5:55 remaining in the second quarter and with 6:51 to go in the fourth for a 5-1 lead.
- Hamilton scored following a penalty corner with 3:52 left in the fourth. A shot by Lilly Truchon '26 was turned away by Jacoby, but Truchon's follow-up found the back of the cage.
Notes
- Despite the final score, the Continentals dominated the stat sheet with a 33-10 shot advantage and 16 corners to three for the Mules.
- Higgins scored for the second time in the last three games.
- Truchon is tied for seventh in the NESCAC with six goals and tied for ninth with 12 points.
- Morgan Clarke '28 recorded a defensive save for the third time in four games and is third in the conference with three.
- Jacoby was credited with 21 stops and Colby had five defensive saves.
