No. 10 field hockey gives up five goals in NESCAC setback at Colby

Higgins '26 and Truchon '26 scored goals for the Continentals

WATERVILLE, Maine – Colby College's Christina Sweeney scored three goals and the Mules recorded a 5-2 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Colby's Bill Alfond Field on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Season Update

  • Nationally ranked No. 10 Hamilton (7-3, 2-3 NESCAC) had its win streak end at three games.

How It Happened

  • Colby scored three goals in the opening seven minutes of the first quarter and never looked back.
  • Sammy Higgins '26 pulled the Continentals within 3-1 on a shot that got past goalie Ginna Jacoby with 6:27 left in the first right after Jacoby had stopped an attempt by Brighton McMahon '29.
  • Sweeney added goals with 5:55 remaining in the second quarter and with 6:51 to go in the fourth for a 5-1 lead.
  • Hamilton scored following a penalty corner with 3:52 left in the fourth. A shot by Lilly Truchon '26 was turned away by Jacoby, but Truchon's follow-up found the back of the cage.
