WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Hamilton College Continentals swept both of their non-conference opponents in three sets during a tri-match inside University of Hartford's Chase Arena at Reich Family Pavilion on Friday, Oct. 24.
Season Update
- Hamilton (7-10 overall) has won four of its last five matches. All four wins were in three sets.
- Hartford (6-13) has a 2-5 record in the Conference of New England.
- Wheaton College (10-14) is 2-6 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference.

How It Happened
- The Continentals scored the first point of the first set and didn't lead again until Amelia Hahn '29 ended a 6-0 Hamilton run with a kill that made it 22-21. With the score tied at 24-24, blocks by Kathryn Fox '27 and Mackenzie Sickinger '28 on back-to-back points closed out the set.
- Neither team led by more than two points in the second set until the Continentals ran off three straight for an 18-14 advantage. The Hawks didn't get closer than two points the rest of the set, which ended on a kill by Hahn.
- The third set was close the entire way as the largest lead by either team was just three points. Hamilton trailed 24-21 but pulled even on a kill by Caitlin Allen '27, block assists by Allen and Hahn, and an ace by Kendall Scholz '27. Attack errors by Hartford on the next two points handed the set and the match to the Continentals.
Notes
- Hahn smashed a season-high 12 kills and added eight digs.
- Ayzlinn Trefren '28 topped Hamilton with nine digs and three aces.
- The Continentals tied a season high with 12 blocks led by Allen's eight. She is third in the NESCAC with 1.20 per set.
- Elodie McGeiver '27 tied a career high with six blocks and Fox added four.
- Grace Jansen '29 tied the match high with 14 assists.

How It Happened
- Hamilton went on a 7-0 run and went up 14-6 in the first set. Wheaton countered with an 8-1 spurt for an 18-17 edge. Neither team led by more than two the rest of the set. The Continentals fought off three set points for the Lyons, the last of which was at 25-24. Two kills by Grace Seaman '29 and one by Fox gave Hamilton the set.
- A kill by Fox and two aces by Jansen put the Continentals in the lead for good at 9-6 in the second set. Another kill by Fox clinched the set and put Hamilton in the driver's seat.
- There were four lead changes midway through the third set and eventually the score was tied at 22-22. A McGeiver kill put the Continentals in front for good and, after a Wheaton attack error, another kill by McGeiver ended the match.
Notes
- McGeiver led Hamilton with 11 kills and only had one error in 25 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage.
- Jansen topped the Continentals with 17 assists and four aces. Jansen is fifth in the conference with 0.48 aces per set.
- Hamilton, which boasted a 7-1 advantage in aces, leads the NESCAC with 2.47 per set.
- Trefren and Liza Beigel '28 came up with a dozen digs apiece. Beigel's total was a season best for the sophomore.
