Women's soccer blanks Union 2-0 for third straight win

Cramer '28 and Harvey '28 scored the goals for the Continentals

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hamilton College Continentals scored a goal in both halves on their way to a 2-0 non-conference win against the Union College Garnet Chargers at Hamilton's Love Field on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (6-4-3 overall) won its third straight match. Two games remain on the Continentals' schedule, both against NESCAC rivals.
  • Union (8-4-2) had lost once in its previous seven matches.
 

How it Happened

  • In the 15th minute Hamilton's Haley Cramer '28 scored from deep, shooting the ball over two defenders and Union's goalkeeper.
  • In the 71st minute the Garnet Chargers' goalkeeper had a lapse in judgment and rolled the ball into empty space where it was stolen by Isabel Harvey '28. Harvey converted the error into another score for a 2-0 advantage.
  • In the 77th minute Daisy Sullivan '26 and Lila Sullivan '29 took two shots, with the latter on target but saved by Maya Koster.
 

Notes

  • Cramer notched a goal for the third straight match and has four this season.
  • Harvey leads the Continentals with six goals and 12 points. She is tied for fourth in the conference in goals.
  • Taryn Gillis '26 picked up her second assist this season and the fourth of her career.
  • Hamilton's Nieve Tonna '26 had two saves and posted her second shutout this season. Tonna has nine clean sheets in her career.
  • The Continentals dominated on offense, getting off 14 shots to Union's five.
  • Koster made four saves after being substituted into the match at the start of the second half.
 

Next Match

The Continentals face off against conference rival Amherst College (8-2-2, 3-2-2 NESCAC) in Amherst, Mass., on Saturday, Oct. 18 at noon.
