Volleyball swept by No. 21 Wesleyan, Seaman '29 with 12 kills for Hamilton

Continentals aim to end their losing skid at home against Clarkson on Saturday, Oct. 11

CLINTON, N.Y. – Wesleyan University posted a .330 hitting percentage and the Cardinals defeated the Hamilton College Continentals in three sets (25-13, 25-18, 25-22) inside Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Friday evening, Oct. 10.
 

Season Update

  • The Continentals (3-9, 0-6 NESCAC) dropped their sixth straight – all against conference opponents.
  • Nationally ranked No. 21 Wesleyan (13-1, 5-0) won its fifth in a row and improved to 10-0 away from home.
 

How It Happened

  • The Cardinals jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the first set and didn't let Hamilton get within three points the rest of the way.
  • Wesleyan rattled off the first four points in the second set and led the whole way. After the Continentals closed to 5-4, the Cardinals went on another four-point run. Fiona LaCamera served an ace for the set's final point.
  • Neither team led by more than three points in the third set as Hamilton tried to extend the match to a fourth. The Continentals took a 22-21 lead after a bad set by Wesleyan, but the Cardinals registered the next four points. Siena Steines had two kills and LaCamera ended the set and the match with another.
 

Notes

  • Grace Seaman '29 topped Hamilton with a season-high 12 kills.
  • Lucy Proud '29 contributed 11 assists, nine digs and two aces.
  • Grace Jansen '29 handed out 10 assists and Elodie McGeiver '27 and Caitlin Allen '27 chipped in two blocks apiece.
  • Wesleyan finished with eight team blocks. The Cardinals had 37 kills and just eight attack errors in 88 attempts.
 

Next Match

The Continentals host Clarkson University (8-9 overall) for a non-conference contest at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11. Hamilton will honor its four seniors before the match.
