GENEVA, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Grace Crowley '26 had a goal and an assist, and
Teagan Brown '27 made 13 saves in the Continentals' 3-0 non-conference win against the William Smith College Herons inside William Smith's The Cooler on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 7.
Season Update
- Hamilton (4-6-0 overall) has won four of its six contests away from home.
- The Herons (3-8-1), who are 3-3-0 in the New England Hockey Conference, are winless in their last six games.
How It Happened
- The Continentals put 30 shots on goal in the first two periods but there was no score heading into the third.
- Hamilton finally broke the ice with a power-play goal at 5:48 of the third. Sophia Testa '26 one-timed a wrist shot from the point and Katie Allen '26 tipped the shot past the goaltender from the low slot.
- The Continentals doubled their lead on another power-play tally with 9:45 left. A wrist shot from the point by Sophie Berghammer '26 was stopped and Lydia Bullock '26 got to the loose puck first. Bullock tried a backhand shot but it skipped wide of the right post and bounced off the end boards. Crowley collected the puck on the left side of the goal and stuffed it inside the left post.
- Lilly Truchon '26 rounded out the scoring with 2:22 remaining. Crowley put a shot on goal from the dot in the left faceoff circle that was saved but not held. Truchon was standing near the top of the crease and whacked in the rebound for the goal that clinched Hamilton's victory.
Notes
- Crowley scored her first goal this season and won 13 faceoffs for the second straight game. She leads the team with five assists.
- Brown posted her first shutout this season and the sixth of her career with the Continentals. She has a 1.87 goals against average and .932 save percentage in six starts.
- Allen has a point in three of the last four games.
- Truchon has two goals in the last three contests.
- Bullock, who leads the team with seven points, registered two assists in a game for the second time in her Hamilton career.
- Abby Weiss '25, Berghammer and Testa picked up their first assists this season. Weiss won 5-of-7 faceoffs and blocked two shots.
- Erin Murray kept William Smith in the game by stopping 46 shots.
- Lauren Legler won 13-of-21 faceoffs and blocked three shots.
- The Continentals enjoyed a 49-13 shot advantage.
- Hamilton went 2-for-3 on power-play opportunities while the Herons were 0-for-2.
- The Continentals have killed all 17 of their opponents' power-play chances.
- This was the first time the teams have played each other.
