No. 12 men's hockey blanks Plymouth State 4-0 in Norwich tourney

Sordillo '27 scored two goals for the first time for the Continentals

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Hamilton College's Ryan Sordillo '27 scored twice and Charlie Archer '25 made 20 saves in the Continentals' 4-0 win against the Plymouth State University Panthers at Norwich University's Northfield Savings Bank Holiday Tournament inside Kreitzberg Arena on Friday, Jan. 3.

Season Update

  • Nationally ranked No. 12 Hamilton (7-3-0 overall) won for the fourth time in its last five games.
  • Plymouth State (7-4-0), which is 5-0 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, is receiving votes in the USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll.

How It Happened

  • The Continentals jumped on top 1:26 into the first period. Alex Danis '26 sent a pass from the left faceoff circle through the slot to Ben Zimmerman '26 for a one-timer from the bottom of the right faceoff circle.
  • It remained a one-goal game until midway through the second period. Following a Plymouth State turnover in its defensive zone, Devon de Vries '27 skated towards the goal line and passed the puck back to Sordillo in the slot. Sordillo moved from right to left, waited for the goaltender to commit and lifted a wrist shot into the back of the net at 8:59 of the period.
  • Sordillo made it 3-0 with 1:45 left in the second. A shot by de Vries from above the left faceoff circle was stopped and Sordillo pounced on the rebound, but another save was made. He finally scored from his knees in the low slot on Hamilton's third shot on goal in a matter of seconds.
  • Jackson Krock '26 added the exclamation point with 6.2 seconds remaining in the third period. William Neault '25 passed the puck from above the left faceoff circle to an unmarked Krock in the slot. His one-timer beat the goaltender high on the glove side.
