No. 9 men's hockey extends win streak to six with 3-1 victory at Conn. College

Defenseman Kent '27 led the offense with a goal and an assist for the Continentals

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Hamilton College's Nick Kent '27 posted a goal and an assist as the Continentals kept rolling with a 3-1 NESCAC win against the Connecticut College Camels inside Conn. College's Dayton Arena on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 18.

Season Update

  • Nationally ranked No. 9 Hamilton (12-3-0, 8-1 NESCAC) extended its win streak to six games. The Continentals have a five-point lead in the conference standings at the halfway point of the NESCAC schedule.
  • The Camels (6-7-1, 4-4-0) dropped their fourth straight game.

How It Happened

  • Hamilton grabbed a 1-0 lead with 7:17 left in the first period. Liam Varmecky '28 snapped off a wrist shot from the point that deflected off at least one player and rolled past the goaltender.
  • Jacob Ierfino '27 gave the Continentals a two-goal advantage 7:15 into the second period. Kent worked a give-and-go with James Philpott '25 and made the short pass to Ierfino from the right faceoff circle. Ierfino's wrist shot from the slot found the back of the net.
  • Hamilton scored its third goal later in the period and eight seconds after a power play ended. Alex Danis '26 skated into the right faceoff circle and handed the puck off to Kent, who carried it to the bottom of the circle. Kent's sharp-angle wrist shot beat the surprised goaltender with 6:04 remaining in the second.
  • Conn. College avoided the shutout 4:12 into the third period when Jack Luca scored on a rebound from near the right post.
