Women’s basketball falls at Trinity, 55-44

Continentals look to bounce back with another NESCAC matchup at Amherst on January 25

HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity College led by seven points after the first quarter and the Bantams never trailed in their 55-44 NESCAC win over the Hamilton College Continentals inside Trinity's Ray Oosting Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 18. 
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (13-4, 2-1 NESCAC) lost away from home for the first time since Nov. 19. 
  • Trinity (14-4, 3-1) won its fourth straight game.  

How It Happened

  • The Bantams scored the opening basket and led 6-2 with 6:58 left in the first quarter.
  • Hannah Bernstein '28 converted a pair of shots at the line and narrowed the gap to two points with 6:26 to go. 
  • The Bantams scored on their next possession and Taylor Lambo '26 responded with a layup with 3:49 left, but the Continentals were held scoreless for the rest of the first quarter. 
  • The Bantams closed out the opening frame with five straight points for a 13-6 edge. 
  • Trinity extended its lead to 10 points at 20-10 with four minutes left in the second quarter. 
  • Tessa Cole '25 tallied a three-point play, but Trinity had the final basket for a 22-13 advantage at the break. 
  • Lambo opened the third quarter with a free throw, but Hamilton didn't get closer than eight points the rest of the way.
  • Maya Carnes' 3-ball gave Trinity a 34-20 lead with 2:44 left in the third.
  • Abbey Schwoebel '27 and Sam Glickman '25 made baskets and cut the Continentals' deficit back to 10 points at 34-24 heading into the final quarter. 
  • Hannah Marzo hit a 3-pointer and gave Trinity its largest lead of 15 points at 39-24 with 8:52 to go in the fourth. 
  • Hamilton pulled within nine points at 53-44 on an old-fashioned, three-point play by Lambo with 1:02 remaining. 
  • Trinity was 8-of-13 from the floor and made all four free throw attempts in the fourth quarter.

Notes

  • Kendall Harris '27 was one rebound shy of a double-double and finished with 11 points and nine boards.
  • Erica Hills '28 chipped in nine points on 4-of-5 shooting off the bench.
  • Lambo finished with eight points and seven boards. 
  • Berstein pulled down eight rebounds. 
  • Olivia Vick paced the Bantams with a game-high 14 points.
  • Avery Marzo added 10 points and two blocked shots. 
  • Madi Forman and Melissa Whitmore grabbed a team-best 11 rebounds apiece and the Bantams claimed a 48-42 advantage on the glass.  
  • Hamilton struggled from the field with a 26.2 shooting percentage (16-61), but went 10-for-13 at the line (76.9 percent).
  • Trinity finished 31.3 percent (21-67) from the floor and went 9-for-12 at the charity stripe.  

Next Game

The Continentals travel to Amherst College (11-4, 1-2) for another conference contest on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m.
