MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Middlebury College's Caroline Segal scored twice in the first quarter and the Panthers went on to a 3-1 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Middlebury's Peter Kohn Field on Saturday, Sept. 7.

- Hamilton (1-1, 0-1 NESCAC) was playing its 2024 conference opener.
- The Panthers (2-0, 1-0) are the top-ranked team in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll.
How It Happened
- Segal scored 4:56 into the opening quarter and made it 2-0 with 5:20 left.
- The Continentals still trailed by two goals early in the third quarter when they capitalized on a penalty corner. Delaney Grace '25 entered the ball to Lydon Kelley '25 on the left wing near the edge of the arc. Kelley's slap shot went into a crowd in the goal mouth and ended up in the back of the cage with 9:21 remaining.
- Hanna Medwar restored Middlebury's two-goal lead with 9:45 to go in the fourth quarter.
- Hamilton put three shots on goal in the final five minutes but Izzy Redzic stopped all three.
Notes
- Kelley, who had one goal coming into this season, has one in each game so far.
- Grace collected her first assist since 2022.
- Abby Griffin '26 started in the cage and made three saves.
- Kelly Janssen '28 relieved Griffin at the start of the third quarter and finished with four stops.
- The Panthers held a 24-6 shot advantage and were awarded 14 corners to the Continentals' five.
