BRUNSWICK, Maine – Hamilton College's
Erin Rayhill '25 netted the game-winning goal in the 75th minute and the Continentals posted a 2-1 NESCAC win against the Bowdoin College Polar Bears at Bowdoin's Pickard Field on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Season Update
- Hamilton (4-2-2, 1-2-2 NESCAC) is unbeaten in its last four matches.
- Bowdoin dropped to 1-3-3 overall and 0-3-0 in the conference.
How It Happened
- The Continentals took a 2-1 lead with 15:59 remaining in the second half thanks to a goal by Rayhill, assisted by Olivia Zubarik '25. Haley Cramer '28 intercepted a pass in Bowdoin's attacking zone and quickly passed it to Sarah Flood '27. Flood then set up Zubarik, who pulled the moves and worked her way into the box before slipping a pass to Rayhill at the top. Rayhill settled the ball and unleashed a missile into the upper-left corner of the net.
- Bowdoin struck first 14:13 into the first half. The Polar Bears' Kayley Huleatt took a free kick and delivered a pass to Jackie Shores, who headed it into the net for the early 1-0 lead.
- Isabel Harvey '28 evened the score with a slick goal in the 18th minute. Samantha Tyska '27 claimed a Bowdoin goal kick near midfield and passed the ball to Daisy Sullivan '26. The Continentals maintained control as Lauren Hanna '25 advanced it up the far side. Zubarik launched a pass toward the top of the 18-yard box intended for Maddie Ledbury '26. The ball was deflected, allowing Harvey to outrun her defender and the charging Bowdoin keeper as she slid the equalizer into the back of the net.
- Bowdoin gathered 11 of its 17 shots in the second half. The Polar Bears outshot Hamilton 17-12 with 10 on goal.
- The Polar Bears carried a 7-2 advantage on corner kicks.
